hi to all
I have just got a lantra. Someone told me that after 96, Hyundai started using their engine which is much better than Mistubishi engines they used before. Can anyone tell me what engine I have.

The Chassis number is KMHKF31RPTU192803 and Engine number is G4GRSO33317.

Be a bit careful of your own personal data protection.. G4GR is the same engine as mine - 1,6l beta. Either read another contributions of this H forum (e.g. "Car Reg's" from Montego, "Engine compatability" from Atti 5) or look at: http://www.paul128.co.kr/paul/engine/hdgas-spec2.html

or download these detailed pdf manuals: [attachmentid=692] [attachmentid=693]

Duke's first rule of this forum - before I start writing something first I must search the issue here

Good luck.

I have a secondhand 1996 Lantra with engine number starting with G4GMS.......... The code seems to suggest it is a 2.0Lt motor. This code does not appear on the PDF mentioned above. Anybody know if it is a 2.0Lt? The Australian models did not come out in 1996 with that size motor?

byronguidry3732 is an unknown quantity at this point
Dear Julian,

See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyundai_Beta_engine

Read and learn. G4GM is the 1.8 liter engine, but there is hope. The 2.0 liter has the same bore and piston, but a longer stroke. So a crankshaft from a junk yard 2.0 liter will transform your engine to a 2 liter.

Crank and con rods, no?

I was late because the voices in my head told me to sharpen my knives and clean my guns before I left, OK?!

...so many WRX owners, so few WRX drivers...
