I called around and even considered Napa's option of oil that says compatible with SPIII because of the price... reading threads here convinced me nothing but the right oil if I wanted it to work right. I must have read every transmission related thread in this sub-forum over the last few days. lol
You'd be even more outraged to find out that there is 15% sales tax on that 46 bux. ... Nova Scotia.
So this car... it has a safety inspection for another 13 months. I've been under it a couple times, it's solid enough for a car that lived 12 years of our salty winters. The A/C is ice friggin cold. Cruise works well. Motor doesn't smoke or tick.
I'm into it for a used alternator, 50$ pro-rated warranty cost on a new battery, and today's cost of the trans oil/filter change.
I'm looking at a front wheel bearing, rear brakes that I know of. I filled it with gas yesterday for the first time and about 5 litres went on the ground.... tank or fill hose or evap canister or or... dunno.
I think if the trans is working ok, I'm not going to mess with it any more! haha. I just need it to work for another 13 months and then I will find another beater etc. I would follow your advice if I was planning on keeping the car going for a while. I do appreciate your replies though.
