Elusive Misfire

Been having a misfire issue lately. My problem is I drive too slow all the time and now it misfires as I try to feather the pedal back. So it's only at low rpm. I have a p0441.. which is purge valve and a p0455 which is charcoal canister hysterectomy. I think I need to change the purge valve again, but my butt is so tight I don't want to spend any money on it. Your thoughts?

Fixed it. Turned out the intake needed cleaning with carb cleaner. Ran great so long as you didn't try to slow, i.e. feathering the pedal.

Finally, it took a good "Italian tuneup" to fix it. I beat the snot out of it a few times, it runs much better now. I just drive too slow.

It just keeps coming back. Goes away for a time, then comes back.

I finally got a P0441 code.... PURGE VALVE. Unhooked the intake side and plugged it off, now misfire went away.

Those steel lines have a lot of joints between the rear cannister and the front valve under the hood. On a 2001 model I ended up grabbing some 1/4" 0.88 a foot rubber line and running a complete new section front to back; tie wrapped to the old steel line.

Finally got rid of the evap codes. The rust crap from the steel line tends to keep plugging up the valves so the new line is a good long term fix. The car has 320k kilometers and still on the road.

I did seafoam in my old car and it worked. I didnt have your specific issue just general hesitation. I Sucked half a can of seafoam thru a vac hose and dumped the other half in the gas tank. After it sat about 30 minutes i drove hard and made a 007 smoke cloud for about 10 minutes then ran like nice and smooth. I did change oil, fuel filter, and pcv a week later too.

Could be an intake leak, but it's very intermittent. I thought I fixed it 5 or 6 times now, just to come back a couple days later. I'll do the aerosol thing and check it out. Also, I'll go out and get some Sea Foam.
