I'm working on a customer car and she complained about noise in the rear brakes. I pulled the passenger side wheel and took out the screw put in two bolts and broke the drum loose and its still wont come off??? I can see behind the drum and can see the springs laying in there so I know something had failed in the drum. I also can see the shoes holding the bottom of the drum on. I know on old Fords you can get through the back and turn the adjuster to release the pads, can you on this?

What does the white plastic button do on the back?

PS: parking brake is off.

Thanks!

let off the handbrake adjuster so that the cable is very slack, if the drum still won't come off you will have to lever it off, you can't get to the automatic adjuster to release any shoe adjustment while the drum is still on

Afraid I don't know but while it's apart, why don't you press it and see?

I did, seems to move the parking brake cable mount, but I don't know why you would want to.
