I NEED TO REPLACE THE FRONT RIGHT WHEEL BEARING ON MY GIRLS 99 ELANTRA B4 SHE KILLS HERSELF AND CAUSES A 10 CAR PILE UP. IS THIS JOB A PAIN IN THE ****? HOW DO I GO ABOUT DOING THIS? I HAVE A PRESS AT WORK IF IT HELPS. THANX

It's not that hard. You have to remove the hub from the ball joint and axle, etc. Then since you have a press, you press out the bearing, and press in the new one. Not impossible, but not recommended for someone who is challenged by spark plugs.

(99 is elantra RD) and go to the shop section.

in there you will find all you need, disassembly and reassembly instructions step by step with illustrations.

Are you sure it's the hub bearing that's bad, and not the axle bearing? CV joints on the axles go bad quite often. They make a racket when you go around turns.

how do you know what the models are? wheres that number located? which one is the 2000 model?

I would recommend you take the knuckle to a local auto shop and have them remove and press the bearing. You can damage the housing that the bearing sits in. Removing the knuckle from the axle is pretty easy to do. Just take your time. Elantra (RD)
