Ioniq Hybrid has the best EPA rating of any non-plug in car

The Ioniq Hybrid Blue is EPA rated at 58 MPG, 57 city and 59 highway; the Toyota Prius Eco, the previous champ, is rated at 56 MPG. It article doesn't mention the EPA rating for the other Ionic trims, though it does say the Ioniq EV is rated at 136 MPGe. Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid Takes the MPG Crown ? News ? they should all be the same unless they have the optional 17" wheels

which knock nearly 10% off the EU economy figures, not sure what they will do to the EPA figures

According to the article, the "Blue" model has various changes to improve fuel economy by 1 to 2 mpg; these changes likely include changes such as the tires and reducing the vehicle weight. But it does seem to indicate the other Ioniq hybrid models may be EPA rated at 56 MPG.

so lead acid battery replaced with a few extra cells in the battery pack, and special tyre / wheel combo

I missed that the blue was an extra ECO model for the US on first reading of a similar article a few days ago

The specs on the hyundai page seem like there are only two wheel choices, a single 15 or a single 17.

The EPA website now shows three Ioniq models -- the Ioniq, the Ioniq Blue, and the Ioniq Electric. Fuel economy on the regular Ioniq is rated at 55 city, 54 highway, 55 combined; the Blue (as mentioned above) is 59 city, 57 highway, and 58 combined; and the Electric is 150 MPGe city, 122 MPGe highway, and 136 MPGe combined. For comparison, the Prius is EPA rated at 54 city, 50 highway, 52 combined and the Prius Eco is rated at 58 city, 53 highway, 56 combined.

And my guess is there will be two wheel choices, just as the Sonata Hybrid only has two wheel choices, likely a smaller wheel for the lower end trims (and maybe just the Blue) and a larger wheel for the higher end trims.
