Watch A Hyundai Try To Kill Korean Car Reviewers During A Test - NewsThrive

hardly the car trying to kill, but some reporters will do anything to get an article noticed

big question was it real or was it faked ? as very convenient they had a camera watching his feet and so many videos on youtube are not what they seem

if real was it a one off glitch or was it reproducible?

Hyundai Ioniq Review Reveals Major Throttle Issue?

from the comments section of the above article, seems to give more details of the conditions required for the fault to occur

Just wanted to confirm that the man in the video says that it is a problem when you stop on a hill and the engine is still cold (you may have noticed that it was snowing in parts of the video). He does not experience problems when going up a hill without stopping.
Hyundai have issues a recall for cars built before 14th march 2016 for a software update

Hyundai Ioniq Recalled in South Korea over Rolling Backwards Problem

Quote:
The South Korean manufacturer launched the Ioniq in its home market two months or so ago, yet Hyundai had to recall the electric drive hatchback after a video was published on YouTube. That particular video can be found at the end of this story. Just skip to the 4-minute, 4-second mark and observe what happens.

Let’s put into words what occurred there. The driver took the Ioniq on an uphill parking exit. He brings the car to a stop while still on the exit ramp. After that, the driver takes his foot off the brake pedal, expecting the hill start assist system to keep things under control. But it doesn’t. He then pumps the throttle pedal repeatedly, only to find out that the Hyundai Ioniq doesn’t do a hill start.

After the car had started rolling backwards, a firm press of the brake put an end to this dangerous incident. The South Korean motoring media took notice of the incident and Hyundai paid attention, prompting an internal investigation. And as expected, the company decided to recall all Ioniq vehicles made until March 14 for a software update. The Ioniq Hybrid, Plug-in, and Electric made after March 14 have been given the updated software, so they’re not included in this campaign.

I think he was saying...

https://youtu.be/sU0BGb2KcmU?t=67

Also, the car was saying something to him (in Korean). Would be intersting to know what it was saying. "Can't make it up the hill with all your fat keesters in the car!" ?

Do you know any satisfying profanity?!

I managed to pick out 4 words: "Hyundai, cruise, control, and ice." I gave up after that...

If a picture is worth a thousand words, I'll need help finding the other 996!

Addendum: Watched again. Shortly (10-20 seconds?) after that rapid pedal episode, I did hear "what I believe" the reviewer remark, "Clean up myself." I guess that bodily movement transcends all cultures and languages.

Ioniq required a software fix to a few early released cars, when Toyota has to replace 7600 airbags and inflators, which cost most?

both are teething problems on a new model that required a recall of a limited number of cars

Toyota issued a recall for approximately 7,600 2016 Prius models for an issue with its airbags. Apparently, the front passenger airbag may have been assembled or welded incorrectly. This could lead to a partial airbag inflation, especially when the vehicle in question has been parked and unoccupied for a long period of time.
The fix is simple. Upon arriving at the dealership, Toyota will replace the front passenger airbag assembly at no cost to the owner. Affected owners will receive a notification by first-class mail, because automakers still operate on principles established when first-class mail was a thing. You'd think a text or email would be more effective, right?

Wait a minute. I just remember the Toyota unintended acceleration case that killed or injured 400 people.
