Just been loaned an i30 whilst I wait for a BMW to be delivered. I'll confess I wasn't expecting much, but it's a really good drive and feels like a good quality product. In the words of the advert "like a Golf"...

For the price it's an absolute bargain. When i come to replace my 5 year old Focus Estate it'll be on the list. It's much better than the Astra I had last week, and I think I even prefer it to the latest model Focus which feels cheap inside.

If it reminds me of anything it's the Skoda Fabia I used to own, solid, unpretentious, excellent quality and an unexpectedly nice drive.

OK, so I'm not going to cancel the BMW 1 series coupe I've got coming, but is it worth nearly twice as much as the Hyundai. No, it certainly isn't... Vauxhall and Ford should be very afraid...

Very kind of you to come on board and say those nice things (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Thanks

I'm exceptionally proud of my lil' Fergie and she fully deserves all the treats I pile on her (IMG:style_emoticons/default/clap.gif)

Just remember, when you join your Series 1 forums, you'll come across quite a bit of "badge snobbery", particularly with respect to our Hyundai brand. At least now you can stand in our corner and fight with us (IMG:style_emoticons/default/57.gif)

Cheers buddy.

Actually the 1 series crowd are OK, probably because they get a lot of jibes along the lines of 'not a proper BMW' ;-)

Never been interested in badges. Impressed by BMW because they drive well. Wouldn't have an Audi though - overpriced Skoda clone...

The only thing wrong with the i30 is its a bit dull on the outside (but no worse than most of the competition)

Now if the next Hyundai Coupe drives as well as the i30....

That's interesting, we have seen a 1 series forum where they spend the thread deriding the i30 and one even goes as far as stating that since they look so similar perhaps they should cancel their order!!

Thanks for your honesty though, it's refreshing to see (IMG:style_emoticons/default/liebe011.gif)

You may wish that you had bought the i30 once you take delivery of your BM.

I won't - but then I'm not paying for it. It's a company car. If I were shelling out £23K of my own money then you might well have a point... The BMW is still better (if nothing else it's got 177bhp!) - just not £10K better...

The i30 seats are better than the BMW. The stereo is MUCH better as standard (I've had to upgrade both on the 1 Series) and the engine matches the BMW for refinement (and both are way ahead of VW)

It's a shame Hyundai don't offer a higher tune diesel like BMW and VAG do. It could take another 30 - 40 bhp quite nicely.
