Hi. This is the weirdest problem I ever had. I can't find good working wiper blades for my 07 sonata. I bought it brand new with OEM blades and they were ok for 6-7 months. Then I replaced them and since then every blade I bought didn't work for me. They jerk, squeek, leave streaks, etc.
I tried buying smaller blades, framed or frameless, rain-x, bosch, michelin, some cheap noname stuff. They all work fine for the first couple hours or days. And then they begin to have the same problem. I don't get it. Then at some point I thought may be it was my pitted windshield, but couple months ago it cracked and was replaced. The problem is still there.
Do you have any idea what can be wrong? Is anybody else here having the same problems?
Thanks.

Yes, I had similar problems.... My current wipers (bought at Sam's Club, btw, maybe 8 months ago) are probably the 4th or 5th veriable product I've been trying over the past 3 years...... Don't know why. My wife's '05 Accord with same mileage is still equipped with the OEM wipers, and they work fine.....
I can only suggest you CLEAN YOUR WINDSHILED REAL GOOD.... Use wax to get rid of anything stubburnly sticking to the glass (you might not even see it), and then use Windex to get rid of the wax. If still having problems, try exterior Rain-X.

KC's wipers don't squeak but they all leave a big smear in the middle of the wiper's swept area, as if the wiper isn't making contact. Bosch, Rain-X, Anco, yada, yada, yada, it's the same story. FWIW, if it rains heavy, the streak goes away after a few minutes. Go figgir!

Dennis, I had the same annoying thing, leaving a streak at the very center, right in front of my eyes.
I fixed it relatively easy.... I did it couple months ago, and it still holding:
I decided the center of the wiper needs better "support" = pressure against the glass. I cut out a piece of rubber from the edge of new floor mats I bought for my wife's car. I cut out small, about 3/4" long by 1/4" wide strips, glued 4 of them together using Crazy Glue, and placed them, glued right in the middle of the wiper frame, right under where the arm is attached to the frame. This is causing the middle of the frame and blade to be pushed a tad against the glass.
I can try take a picture if my above 'splanation is not clear enough...

So looks like I'm not alone and it's a common problem. Interesting. So we basically have to live with it and there's no way to fix it.

QUOTE (error666 @ Nov 5 2009, 12:28 PM) WOW. This is way too much work for me (IMG: style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) but very impressive. Took me about 15 minutes, once I decided what I want to do.... Of course, waiting for the glue to dry took another 15 minutes..... Really an easy and cheap fix if the streak is in the middle.... BUT IN GENERAL, I also think it differs where one lives, and where the car is parked during the day or night..... Snow doesn't add much health to the wipers, and especially ICE, which is a real rubber killer. Parking all day in a hot sunny desert.... Parking under trees all day has it's own annoying issues... .....Of course, my above excuses do not explain why my wife's Accord (5 months older than my car) has its original wipers still alive and well, while I'm in my 4th or 5th replacement.... I just went 3.5 Years on the original Blades in strong Sun & heat. The new ones were 24 bucks, and put in by a Girl with Tattoos at NAPA. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif) I asked about refills and she would sell them only. Makes her fingers bleed. Should I given her a couple bucks? She did a great job as they work fine! What is the Auto Parts Store protocol? This is the first time an Auto Parts Store has helped me, aside from Manny Moe & Jack! Oh and about Rain X. When my New Subaru wipers thunked and I said I used Rain X, the Daewoo Manager said my New Subaru Warranty was now void. They just bought a Subaru Store. Went out of Business within Months of opening.
