Well, it happened. Guess it has happened to others, but no answers yet. We had a 3-gallon jug of water on the back floor that tipped over around a corner and broke out a speaker grill. I think the speaker itself is fine.

I'd like to know two things from those who have taken off the door panel and/or replaced the rear door speakers with aftermarket.

1) Can the rear speaker grill be taken off and replaced withOUT removing the entire interior door panel? If so, how?
2) Anyone know where I can find a beige (we have tan leather in the LX) panel for purchase aside from the dealer?

Thanks!

My other option is to repair it, but to do that, I still need to get it off and carefully glue the grill piece and the cracks back into place. Knowing if the panel can be removed by itself and how would be awesome!

Steve

Hi Steve,

The grills do not easily separate from the door panels. For all intents and purposes, they are one panel. The speaker grills are riveted to the door panel with plastic rivets.

dogstar covered his grills with speaker cloth a couple years back. Here's a link to his post. This should help you if you're looking to do the repair. If you're gonna replace it, you might as well replace the entire door panel.

As for a place to buy them, your only options are the dealer, a salvage yard or eBay. You'll have to buy the entire door panel from the dealer; you MIGHT find just the speaker grills at the salvage yard or eBay, but not likely.

Good luck.

Thanks for the reply on this. I was afraid of that, but good to know before I tear into anything.
