Where To Find At Parts?, Automatic transmission filter and gasket, can't find replacements. Options

Just a quick background, my wife's parents own a 2007 Elantra, and it just recently started throwing a code (right around 30k). My father-in-law, in the process of doing a tune-up without consulting me first! (heh) happened to overfill the transmission, and to boot with ATF-Z1 (I don't even remember them owning a Honda...).

My plan was to help him finish the tune-up and while doing so, drop the pan and just replace the fluid entirely. The problem is, nobody I've called can get me a filter/gasket for the pan. I can't even find one online. Everywhere I go that I use for my own vehicles (like rockauto.com) only lists parts for MT, not AT.

Help? I don't want them driving it right now, it's hard shifting like somebody learning to drive stick, but I can't locate the parts I need.

Before even thinking about the filter, you could at least try one drain and refill via the plug. This time, be sure they use the OEM Fluid, since they're still on warranty.

Trans Filter for that car is most likely a dealer only part... and they might tell you they never needed one to date, so why would you.

Good luck with the fluid exchange, and pray that no damage has been done... otherwise warranty repairs might get problmatic if they get a hint that the wrong fluid was used.

From a good look at the schematics and procedures at HMASERVICE.com, filter replacement involve more than a pan removal. It seems to involve removing the valve body to replace it.

Fluid exchange via the drain plug once (or even twice) should be enough to remove the Honda ATF.

Thanks guys - I drive an MT Ford, so I'm learning as I go with the Hyundai. Before getting under the car I did some research and my assumption was based off what seemed to be a professional site claiming there was no drain plug. After putting the car up and getting at it, the whole situation simplified and we drained it and replace it without any further problems. We're still experiencing problems, but they're unrelated so I'll start a new thread for it, thanks again!
