I would love to hear your racing experiences with an Accent!

Not SCCA, just local lapping events. We have 5 tracks to choose from within 2 hours:)!

Love the racing. It really lets you get to know the limits of your car. It's also nice to actually see all the mods being used and abused. Tracking does beat on your car (brakes and tires mostly) My Falkens on my 18s are done (got them new in the spring), but that's ok because new rims next year. Lapping events are fun but they cost too much if you go often. ($100-140 for about 5 hours of unlimited laps. I should try SCCA next year. I recommend everyone does it at least once a year.

It's a shame I could only go twice this year. I'd love to go to the ice races in the winter but I don't want to destroy my car lol.

I autocross regularly, not with SCCA, but with another local group. Unlike the SCCA this group doesn't break you down into a class based on your modifications, though they do have a special small bore competition class setup though which I will be competing with the Accent in, hoping to beat some Hondas, including 2 fits, and maybe a few Miatas.

I had fun beating half the pack with this car though. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

I only recently found out the SCCA activities in my area and I went to the last event of the season with two co-workers who are really into it. One of them drives a 91 Miata and the other has a 08 Corvette. I didn't drive my Accent because I didn't feel like I would have the proper responses and reactions. Boy, was I right!! I rode as a passenger with both co-workers and it was a kick in the pants! Next year I definitely want to take a driving class and try to attend a few events. It encouraged me to see that a stock Toyota Yaris beat a few 4wd WRX Subarus. :-)

Wow. Those drivers in the WRX must suck at driving.

Not surprised. In the right conditions and courses, far lower powered vehicles can beat high powered ones, especially when handling is more important than power. I went on a cruise once with a couple Lancers, an STi, and a turbocharged Civic Si. Only I was able to keep up with the STi in the city portion and we both were waiting 10 minutes for the rest to meet up with us at the end. They apparently called the guy in the STi, asking him who was left and he said 'Uh, just the Hyundai.' (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) On the highway potion, they all destroyed me. Still, it felt nice.

Go for it. The accent is a very easy car to drive and also very forgiving. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif) for wanting to take the accent to the track.
