I've been seeing 2 things so far on how to take these out. Some say theres a screw around the ash tray that gives you access to this, and others say to simply pry out the dash carefully. I'm wanting to install a double-din pioneer headunit, without wrecking the dash you know? The stock headunit just isn't loud enough.
Any insights to help?

Any insights to help? You have an ashtray? There are no screws to take out. Pry like blood said, and pull. You could also use a butterknife. You will scratch the dash, accept it now and it'll be easier for you when it happens; just try not to scratch it too much. The stock speakers won't get too much louder without distortion. There something like 14W.

Just pry around the trim. That's what I did for my 09. There's about 4 clips on the bottom and 4/5 on the top of the trim piece if I remember correctly.

I used a mayonnaise spreader wrapped in electrical tape and managed with only one small scratch that has virtually disappeared. Whatever you use, tape it up.

Thanks! I'll pick up some old out of date mayo, thats all creamy, spread it all over the dash, and pry it out. Hahaha. I don't plan on keeping the stock speakers. I would like to get some infinity kappas for the front, but the size and layout of these speakers are a bit odd. 3 screws for a 5.25? Though the tweeters for the fronts aren't so bad for highs stock. Probably install my huge 6x9 box for the rears, and I'm debateable about the subs. I have a good sealed box with 2 FI subs, but sealed in a hatchback? Not going to sound so great. May build 2 huge ported boxes for those, IF I can live without a back seat.

What size speakers are used in the 2009 Accent? I have the so called 'upgraded' (stock) sterio and it STILL sucks!
I have a nice older Pioneer MP3 deck I'd like to install, but would like to change out the speakers as well. Anyone have some pics of the speaker panels removed for changing them out?

Okay, I looked it up, looks like its 6-1/2 in the front and either 5-1/4, 5x7, 6-3/4, 6x8 for the rears. Quite the interesting options for the rear configuration. (What ever happened to 6x9?!) Could a 6x9 fit with a little modding? anyone done this? And will this harness work for adapting an aftermarket deck without splicing wires? I haven't had mine apart yet, and don't want to order parts without being 100% 2009 Hyundia Accent wiring Harness

Ummm... at least on my 2008, its 5 1/2 up front. Though, I'm in the hatchback. The sedan could be different. Though an adapter could fix that quick. But without a box or some major cutting, you're not going to get 6x9s in there. Could replace that rear tray with something else, and put 6x9s in there. Wouldn't be all that hard really.
