Kyb Shocks Installed Options

Good Morning All, As everybody know the back shocks on our cars do not makes us too happy. I got tire of all the noise and ratling and decided to install KYB. So last friday I took the car to my friend shop for remove and install. What a big difference in everything beetween the KYB and the oems. I payed $90 for each shock which have a life time warranty and only $40 for the whole installation job. I know I could get them for about $70 online but shipping & handling would add to the cost and also the insurance would be an issue later on. Now the car rides like it should. As soon as KYB get the front struts on the market I will get them on my car.

Just a couple of questions:

- Did you got rid of the noise completly (or most of it)?
- Do you see an improvement of handling on bad roads and curves (mine can loose a bit of control in this condition)?
- Would you think is softer/harder or equal ride?

Hi everybody, Well yesterday I drove the car to my job, the road to get there has been under construction and is ideal to test the new shocks. I can said that the noise is a lot less because a bumpy road will always produce some noise. Now on smoth roads with less bumps the ride is very quiet even when going over a rough part. My friend at the shop told me that KYB are kind of hard for a few weaks and then I should notice a better comfortable ride.

The car height is about the same I do not see any changes at this time .

The insurance I refer is about buying the shocks on the web instead of using a local auto part. The local shop gave me a life time warranty versus having to ship the shocks if they need replacement to the online retailer which could be an uphill battle.

Thus far the ride has improve but I think it would be better when the time to replace the front struts comes. As soon as KYB finish the manufacturing the car would be back in the shop for installation.

The ride height of the car will not be altered by installing new shocks. It is the springs which set the ride height.

Do u need a wheel alignment after u replace the rear shocks.. cuz i'll be replacing the rear shocks this friday..$140 for both shocks

You'll need a wheel alignment whenever you replace your shocks.

Not necessarily true. Dealers and maintainence want you to believe that. Rear struts don't generally need to be "aligned", unless the rest of the suspension is worn out too.

I replaced my struts (front and rear) last year and didn't have an alignment. They were about $200 w/shipping, KYBs. Of course, I had to put them in, which is a PITA.

I also bought new tires at the same time. After 25K there's no abnormal wear, or any untoward handling, etc. People wind up getting way too many alignments in my view.

You can get them here online for $58.66 w free shipping. I ordered mine from them a few months ago and got them in less than a week.

They have been sitting in my closet... Been waiting to hear some feedback... thanks for posting this.

Noticed that Monroe has the fronts but not sure if I should wait for the KYBs instead. hesitant to install only one end since I'm sure KYB is tuning them to work all 4 in tandem.

Question: Did you reuse the strut mounts or did your go to another mount? Other parts? Just want to make sure it's the shock that deserves the credit for the quieter ride.
Also, is there less body lean? more body control? I've notices w the oe shocks the rear end tends to heel over suddenly in sudden sharp/tight turns.. causing oversteer as can be seen here, in addition to the wallowing and jitterying ride.

I did experience this on a tight turn but was able to catch it w the help of ESC. Thanks.

Hola, after driving the car for a couple times ( I have another car which I also use) I have notice a really improvement over the oem shocks. One thing I have notice while driving over those speed reducers they put on the road is that the front bounces up and down while the back is more under control, more firm. As soon as KYB get the fronts struts ready I ll' get them on to equalize the ride.

Which model struts did you get for your car? The AGX and GR2 have had front and rear for sometime now.

I got the GR2 p/n 349060.

I got the GR2 p/n 349060.

I put the GR2's on all 4 corners. It made a huge difference in the handling.
