I have an 09 Accent hatchback, which is not equipped with a water temperature gauge. However, I notice that the earlier models did have the water temperature gauge. I find it really inconvenient since I live in Canada with cold winter months and I can't tell whether the engine has warmed up or not besides looking at the idle speed and listening to the engine sound. Also is there an indicator light that comes on when the engine overheats? Does anyone know why Hyundai eliminated this besides cost cutting and would an earlier model water temperature sensor/gauge assembly fit in the 09 model?

it was certainly a very dumb move to remove the temp gauge. I'd recommend a scangauge 2 if you can afford one. very useful. i think mine was $160 shipped from terrapass.com

I have a temp gauge in my 07 SE but the 07 GS didnt have when i was looking at the lighter blue one. the scan gauge is a nice tool though, since it gives me an accurate water and air temp.

It's really weird, the new redesign Kia Rio is also coming with fuel gauge only. why in the world would they do something like that..its unknown...even tho they have improvement in a lot of things.

I live in Canada and could care less about the gauge.... What is the big deal for such a small thing? When its -15 outside I don't think about whether or not the engine is warm, I just want hot air to start blowing out.

ScanGauge FTW!  Precision you won't get with the OEM gauge.

Most factory temp gauges, including what is on the Accent only really read 3 things:  cold, somewhere between cold and overheating, and overheating.  They're worthless, but still nice to have at the same time though. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grin.gif)

I don't know what's up with deleting the gauge, pretty stupid move.  My friend's Cobalt only has speedometer/fuel/tach for the analog gauges, but the digital display for the odometer will toggle to the coolant temp among other things - that's handy, they could have done something like that, but it no doubt adds cost.  At least they left the tach there.  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

I live in Canada also, and I really like having the temp gauge.
