Hi guys, I am a Hyundai Terracan driver for the past 7yrs. I am planning to change the original double din cd player to a brand new sony xplod double din player. In order to do this, I need to open up the front dashboard first. I hva eread a lot of reviews which really scares me.. people said "if you open your dashboard, u may end up with a crack/ scratch dashboard if u dont know how the actual way to open the dashboard.

I need your advice and help on how to open the dashboard inorder for me to replace the fm/cd player.

Removing the center dash panel is not difficult (no tools needed)

1) Set ashtray out.

2) Grab ashtray and give a fast but short yank out. this will pry out the lower part of the panel.

3) Work the center and upper parts of the panel by pulling out with fingers.

4) Carfully unplug any wire harnesses that are attached to whatever swithches are mounted in the center panel.

Once center panel is removed, then removing and replacing the stereo system is very easy. I suggest that you DO NOT cut the wire harness plug that goes into the original stereo. Instead, splice the new connector into the existing wires. That will let you reinstall the original stereo any time without further complications.

Heres the schematics and dashboard removal instructions. There is the schematics for the wire harness, so you can figure out which cable belongs to each other with the new system.

Hey, that's a good question!

I just checked the service manual and there is no mention of the remote controls for the radio system (steering wheel). I guess the manual I have was printed prior to the availability of this stereo system. The manual I have considers audio systems H240, H260 and H280; apparently none have remote controls.
