Timing Belt - Step By Step Options

I'm a reasonably competent mechanic and have a fairly good tool set... my 2001 XG300 is over due for a timing belt at 85,000 miles. I've just about decided to do the job myself. I reviewed the online manual for the proceedure and I find it horribly lacking in "how to". Can anyone please provide a good step by step proceedure from beginning (you don't have to say "open the hood") to end (you don't have to say "Close the hood") of how to do it? It would be much easier than "ok... um... I guess I should pull the alternator next..." Also, anyone's suggestions and tips such as the creative use of nail polish to mark positions, etc would be GREAT!!!

Remove bumper, re-bar, rad/condensor, R.F. tire, right side engine covers, alternator and feed line to the PS pump.
Once you get the harmonic balancer (It will probably be seized) and timing belt covers off make marks on all four camshaft sprockets and the places they touch the old belt. Transfer the marks to the new belt and install the belt on the appropriate marks. There are dealer Cam Sprocket holders available. Inspect the hydraulic tensioner for any fluid, if there is ANY - replace it. When you pull the pin out of the tensioner, ratchet the arm it pushes on up with a pry bar to insure good pressure on the new belt. Good luck, not a easy job for anyone.

there is no need to remove the bumper or the radiator/condensor. remove the right hand fan assembly (two bolts) and then undo the two top radiator mounting brackets there is just about enough room to lift the alternator out. but your right, the timing belt on an XG is not an easy job
