2002 -- first issue I've ever had with this car.

When Braking from 60 MPH down to 0 --- everything is normal until I get to 20MPH and from there down to 0 I get alot of feedback in the pedal (vibration) and what sounds like the ABS activating in the engine compartment. However the Dash indicator of ABS never comes in (and their would be no reason for it).

When Braking from 20 MPH to 0 I immediately get the same pedal action / noise.

Happens 3 out of 4 times -- but not always!!!

Tires are original @ 80,000!!! and just passed inspection , all the rotors look good except for one rear.

Thoughts???Appreciate any help / experience that is out their

Lots of problems with ABS. It's a real bonanza for service departments. Could be the sensors are dirty and giving funky readings.

It's not uncommon for ABS to activate while braking over wash-board type bumps, especially with large tires and a soft suspension. From what you're describing, it sounds like a faulty wheel speed sensor or dirty/rusted exciter ring for the ABS. It's surprising you don't have an ABS warning light on. ABS codes can be read with an advanced code reader to pinpoint the problem. You can pull the ABS fuse to disable the system. This will light up an ABS light, but do no harm to the vehicle. You'll just be non-ABS while the fuse is out.

Don't sweat it, it's probably just a wheel speed sensor or an exciter ring (toothed gear that the optical sensor reads off of). I dunno the exact make up of the ABS system on this vehicle, but the codes can be read. Prolly be a cpl hundred beans at a dealer or try a trusted independent shop.

Yup, on the 2.7L the intake manifold has to be removed.

Good work! Looks like the <2007's are quite different than the 2007+. There's a good 2-3" worth of room between the back cam cover and the upper intake on my 2008 2.7L. You can just about make it out in this pic. It's prolly still got to come off though. Can anyone confirm?

2009 Sonata GLS-when I apply brake pedal I hear a clicking noise coming from the pedal or under the dash. Any thoughts?
