Hello guys, I am planning to buy a 2007 and onwards (second generation) Hyundai Santa Fe.

My first experience with the Santa Fe was by a friend and latter on I decided to purchase one. The aspect that I really enjoyed about this car was the comfort. There was no noise comming from the car and it was running so smoothly.

That car was a 2.7 V6 4WD. The one I am planning to buy is the 2.2 CRDİ 4WD because of its lower running costs. However I do have some question marks that you guys may help me with.

Can the 2.2 model give me the same experience as with the 2.7 model and if so will it differ a great deal from each other or is it a small difference?

Thanks in Advance...

We have a 2.2 CRDI (2009) and we are very happy with it.

The 2.2 does make more engine noise than the 2.7, but is to be expected being a diesel.
We really only notice it when idling or accelerating, once moving along you really dont notice it.

The diesel has more torque than the 2.7 and has no issues with hills or towing, but there is slight turbo lag. It is powerful and overall very smooth.
The diesel is also matched to a 5 speed auto, where I think the 2.7 often comes with a 4 speed auto.

The big difference is at the pump, we get on average 9-10 litres per 100km in city driving. The 2.7 would be lucky to get 13-14 litres per 100km around town. A considerable saving.

Whatever you choose, I'm sure you will be satisfied.

Stew.

Dear Mr.Kaizer,

There are some of us here in North America that would give our left lug nut to get the choice you have.
