QUOTE (jetrinka @ Sep 6 2009, 07:39 PM) More to be added by dafunk a bit later. Patience. The Lunchbox is now open. Remember you can always go back and modify your original post. No reason for multiple posts. We all can wait those few minutes for your pictures & videos. And that first Video with the sound off looked like something I've never seen before?

Thanks man. Appreciate it! And to take away all doubts, here is some faces for the names. Its a bit dark. Sorry. (IMG: http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii265/jetrinka/DSCF12103.jpg) Thanks for looking! Oh and I hail from focusfanatics.com which is where the "lunchbox" name was derived from. The non-SVT and non-ST Foci have what we call a lunchbox muffler cause thats what it looks like and its popular to delete. I drive an 05 2.3 making 160 WHP NA. Its pretty fun. The Accent I am in front of is my fiance's which is my reason for joining the forum.

We only get 1 Meg here. 1.5 is what they sell. Enjoy! (IMG: style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif)

I think you shouldn't have stopped with just the muffler. Take it off from the headers back. It'll be way louder, lighter, and no exhaust flow restrictions.
BTW, I don't know for sure, but isn't it illegal to have no muffler?

BTW, I don't know for sure, but isn't it illegal to have no muffler? Depends where you live, really. I live in a province where having a straight pipe is perfectly legal, but if it's too loud and you get complaints and/or the cops feel it's too loud, be prepared to get a ticket for it. I believe the ticket's more for noise violation than car modification though. Of course, somehow motorbikes are exempt from this, which is just pure crap. I have a neighbour with a chopper that's so freaking loud that when he rolls into the neighbourhood at 3am from his drinking binge or whatever, pretty much everyone wakes up thanks to all of our windows rattling. And I'm NOT exaggerating. It's insane how loud this guy's bike is but as far as I know he and other bikers I know with the same setup have never gotten tickets for any reason.

Ok, how are you preventing the exhaust fumes form entering the cabin ?, Or do you like the sick as a dog feeling you get while sitting in heavy trafffic caused by the fumes entering form the rear vents in the lower quarters of the body as well as causing hot spots on the under body, brake & fuel lines. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif) Way to go guys I think that you have obtained an award (IMG: style_emoticons/default/trophy.gif) . How to kill yourself and your friends slowly award!! (IMG: style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif) BTW, you don't need to have eco-location to locate a vehicle with a bad exhaust,I hope your other half likes tickets because the minute a cop hears that she will be receiving a few.

Well, I wasn't going to be as blunt as that lol... but yes, it's incredibly unsafe to have the exhaust exit UNDER the car. Most states have some sort of law regarding where the exhaust must exit. You may wish to look this up for your own knowledge. But since this "mod" consisted of unbolting the muffler, it's not like it would take you any more than 15 minutes to bolt it back on for inspection, if the need were to arise. Overall, a very silly mod.

Not as silly as 18 inch wheels, aluminum fuel filler doors ("Give your new Accent the custom appearance of a professional race car with this Metal Gas Cover. Its sporty look will make admirers wonder what kind of added muscle you have under the front hood." Haha, muscle in an Accent?), and 500,000 LEDs in the cabin alone. It's not a permanent modification and this car isn't a daily driver, for those ranting about how dangerous it is. You obviously didn't read the whole post. It's barely driven but once or twice a week, and never in heavy traffic areas. We live in a rural town with about 6,000 inhabitants, and he walks to work. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/whistling.gif) We parked next to an idling WRX Sti today, and the noise emitted was like a Prius compared to its Godly rumble. No tickets will be issued, guaranteed. Personally, I would not do it because of the amount of added noise in the cabin. After driving a 20-year-old car, my car is too pleasantly quiet to modify. It's sad how quickly ideas get completely shut down on this forum.
