Good morninig all,

I have a few questions about my 56 plateed Terracan ( 26500 miles on clock ) please forgive me if they sound the same as some all ready in the forum. Any advice would be great please.

1 When towing my caravan which is a small four birth at around 56 mph now and again the car seams to miss abeat and I can feel it as if some one is pushing my seat back gently. At first i thought it was wind on the front of the van but no sign of wind on the van window.

2 Very hot fuel filter after a good long run towing the van but not as hot as when solo is this engine bay heat or poss fuel filter on the way out.

3 Is or does this sound about wright 24 mpg when towing and 28 - 29 mpg when on a combined run.

4 Radio chopping in and out now and again ( sorry there was no instuction book when i bought the car second hand so think ive set the radio up correct ) as if power outage for a split second.

5 Is there any way to stop the tail gate from gettig covered in muck when it's raining ( which happens a lot in the UK (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grin.gif) just latly ) or is there a differant relay for the rear wiper to slow the intermitant down.

6 The feeling of clutch judder i get when pulling away some times is this a sign of rear diff or clutch.

Sorry if they sound as if im complaining about the car i'm not the cars great, a big step up from my last 4x4 in build quality and performance keep up the good work Hyundai.

Any and all help welcomed (IMG:style_emoticons/default/liebe011.gif)

I'll try to answer to the best of my knowledge:

1) Anytime pulling something heavy, you will sometimes feel like being "pushed" or "pulled". How much push or pull feeling depends on whatever you are pulling (weight / mass / size). I will say this is normal.

2) Fuel filter may get hot depending on driving conditions. If getting hot only when pulling your caravan, then you got your answer. You are putting a lot of strain to the engine, meaning the fuel system is working a lot. Anyway, the terracan has a fuel temperature sensor that will trigger error codes to the ECM in case it gets too hot. If you haven't got any error codes /check engine light/, then your filter is working within normal temperatures.

3) Fuel consumptions sounds about right.

4) Radio chopping (cracking sounds or muting for split seconds) may be caused by: a) Poor radio signal, (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) Broken antena line (check left rear window where the antena is supposed to be. It looks like defroster lines, but its the antena). c) Poor radio grounding (is this the oem radio unit?).

5) The rear tailgate will always get muddy, especially if your terracan DOES NOT have the original rear spoiler/deflector. This happens because the vehicle creates a "vaccum" around the rear of if, proportional to the speed. The faster you drive, the more mud and water gets sucked to the rear of the vehicle. You can get an aftermarket deflector that will induce wind downwards to the rear window (from the roof) if you feel you must need it. Here is an example of one http://www.sewellpartsonline.com/parts_det...87706&all=Y

6) Clutch judder (vibration) will be normal if you are pulling your caravan. This is a normal clutch behavior if you've been pulling a lot of weight. Clutch failure will produce different symptoms, like clutch slipping (worn clutch surface or pressure plate spring failure) or the pedal becomes too hard (pressure plate failure). Also, if you hear a noise when in neutral, that silences off when clutch es pressed, then your push bearing is near the end of its life.

cheers

RB

Ditto what Rob b said, Always remember you have 2 years of warranty left, so take it to a dealer if anything is worrying you. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grin.gif) (gotta luv yhat warranty!)
