Hi everyone

I've just had my Terracan's windscreen replaced and it just doesn't look right. The rubber surround thingy has been fittted badly in that it's short by an inch on one side leaving the windscreen edge exposed and disappears into the engine bay by 2 inches the other side! Fitter said it was because the rubber is not marked with a 'centre point' but insisted that it was OK and water tight. I have insisted that it isn't right and they are going to re-fit it this week. I was told that we had to leave it 7 days until the gluey stuff goes off completely and then the screen is easier to remove. But I'm a woman, so what do I know!!

My question is: looking at the windscreen from the outside, there seems to be an empty groove running from top to bottom on both sides of the screen. At the top it runs away to nothing and the top of the rubber fits flush onto the top of the screen. At the lower edge it is big enough to get your finger into. Unfortunately, I can't remember if it was like this before the new screen was fitted! Can anyone check their screen and let me know what it should look like. Terracans are quite rare in my neck of the woods, so not much chance of finding one in a car park somewhere local.

Thanks
Gilly

From your description, it seems your new windshield was not installed properly.

Anyway, the person at the shop is right. You have to wait around a week for all the glue and sealant to fully cure so it can be removed again. Removal now will make a mess since sealant is still very sticky.

Here's is an extract of the Terracan's service manual, that you can print and hand to the shop for proper installment.
