Hello,

I have a 2007 accent and it takes a few seconds to start up when the motor is "hot" (talking about 3-4 seconds)

I'm thinking this can't be good for the long term and might wear some parts..

Took it to the dealer a few months ago but couldn't replicate the problem all the time

I now know it's only when the car is hot

Any ideas?

Thanks

Mine does that too once in a while. But usually only after I am driving the car real hard, or when Im coming off the highway from driving for a little while. It will just crank for a few seconds. But then it starts up on the second crank of the key. Never figured out what it was, and didnt really think anything of it. Just thought it might have been that the fuel pump may have been a little warm. I honestly dont know.

I think mine starts stupidly fast when it's been running a lot... I do secret shopping (tobacco and alcohol carding checks) occaisionally. I went to 30 places today (so at least 30 engine turn-offs and ons) and the more it's been running, the faster it seems to start for me. Like under a second.

When it's cold, it can take a little more than a second for me.

Cold, never even plugged mine in yet, barks right up, get the oil moving and feel the cold and jerky clutch.

Is that when you have less than a half of tank of gas?? Because the fuel pump is at the front of the gas tank. That's really about the only thing I can think of. But hey, with how inexpensive these cars are, and how cheap they can be made, we should be happy with what we have. We shouldnt expect perfection for $12K. Lol, with a inexpensive car, comes minor problems. JMTC

Fuel pressure is definately the culprit, I only fill up once a week, like to keep playing with different gas station's for mileage/fun.
