I drove a rental Elantra with 30K miles on it last week and it did not bounce/porpoise or wallow. Amazing!!!!
Hyundai's inability to admit the Azera suspension problem and correct it will keep me out of a Genesis even with a big discount.

I recently drove a KIA Rondo with 20+K. It didn't bounce and wallow either. It absorbed bumps and rough patches better than my Azera and it (suspension) wasn't as noisy. It had a very nice ride and feel. And in spite of a lot of hard plastics in the cabin, fit and finish was impressive for a cheapo.

I drove a Genesis 4.6 last week. It was very quiet and not a peep from the suspension, BUT... it was still bouncy and wallowy in my opinion. For a "sport" sedan, it still needs refinement.

We just found out at work today that there is definitely going to be a '10 Azera but they aren't going to be producing many. That was all we were told, that and the 2010 Sonata's will be a short model year.

I to heard this today about the Azera. The 2010 is going to be the last year for the Azera and there will be a replacement for the automobile. The 2010 Azera will keep the same body style, only a few minor changes. LVr 87 what do you mean by Sonata being a short model year?

Gator65 you have a valid point on the Azera. Hyundai will not admit they have a problem with the suspension on the Azera for the 2006 and 2007 automobile. This is a real problem if Hyundai wants repeat buyers of their automobiles. Even if they do admit a problem the dealers don't want to fix them. My dealer drove my Azera four times and the head guy at the dealership didn't hear any noise. I think the guy needs a hearing aid.

The 2010 Sonata will be a short model year because.......................

the 2011 Sonata will be a completely changed car and will be introduced early. The body is a total make over and is very sleek. I believe, the engine choices will be the 3.3 and the 3.8.

I have seen the new body and trust me, it is fantastic. Hyundai is on the right road to success and all I can say is, sorry, big 3, you lose.

In addition to my current 2007 Santa Fe Limited, I have owned two other Hyundais. My 1988 was fantastic and lasted for well over 200,000 miles with its Mitsubishi engine. My 2007 Azera was full of problems that I believe have, for the most part, been dealt with in the 2009. In spite of my Azera problems, it was a very comfortable car and the great Hyundai warranty took care of everything.

When I am able, my 2008 Chrysler convertible will be replaced by another Hyundai. Although my Sebring is reliable, comfortable on the highway and a heck of a lot of fun, especially with the top down, my hopes are that I can purchase the up and coming Genesis Coupe Convertible, possibly due out with the next model year.

David Paul 1,
I thought you traded in your Azera on the Sebring because you were so upset with it and Hyundai's inability to fix it. I still have two ongoing problems with my 07 that Hyundai has not agreed to fix.
BTW, I noticed in Edmunds Inside Line First Drive of the Equus that it too had suspension issues.
Changing the name of the replacement for Azera will further devalue the trade in on Azeras. Makes it appear that Hyundai is so ashamed of the car that they do not want people to be reminded of it. While it may not be true, public perception is what leads to reputations that leads to increased sales.

I bought my first Hyundai in 2001 and never once did I expect to get anything for it on a trade in. If you want trade-in value, buy a Honda. If you want a reliable car that you can drive for years until it's towed away to the great scrap-heap in the sky, buy a Hyundai.

Hopefully, things will change in the future but, for the time being, only buy Hyundai if you're planning on driving it into the ground because you'll never get what it's worth on a trade-in.

Yep. Resale value means nothing to me as I keep a car "forever" (20 years and 17 years for my previous two, with ownership of the two overlapping by about 6 years). Now 39,000 miles, 2 years, 8 months and counting!... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/banana.gif)

Who's changing the name? The Equus is not a replacement for Azera, it's above the Genesis. I'll bet they're going to keep the name. The replacement is going to be spectacular if it's based on the... what was it? 2010 Kia Spectra concept?

I'm already impressed with the aesthetics on current-generation Sonata, Azera & Genesis. The next versions, and the new Equus, are all tremendously impressive cars. But they'd make their dealership network competent that would probably be a "home run" strategy. They definitely aren't there yet.

I got rid of the Azera because my wife had lost total confidence in the vehicle. We considered it her car, even though I was the primary driver.

When the ABS system failed at highway speed on our local Interstate and locked up the right front and left rear wheels, it scared the daylights out of her. The car had to be towed back to the dealer. The entire brake system was replaced, including two rotors.

The front struts were replaced twice. On the second change, the front end started behaving itself again, but we knew that within 5,000 miles, those so called improved struts, would fail again. Others with the same strut model number had them fail at about 5,000 miles.

I absolutely loved the car, as far as the rest is concerned. But not being able to control a vehicle during a high speed maneuver to avoid an accident was the straw for me.

I have heard that the 09 has an improved front suspension but I haven't seen much feedback on this forum regarding the new models.

As far as my Sebring is concerned, it is reliable and handles quite nicely and is a blast to drive with the top down but as is typical with most American cars, the build quality sucks.

I will definitely get rid of it when I can afford to do so and move back to another Hyundai product. My Santa Fe is getting lonely in our garage is it does not speak english so cannot buddy up with the Chrysler. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grin.gif) Perhaps the Coupe will be my next purchase but when the time comes, who knows.

I think you may be reffering to the Amanti VG concept.

We finally sold that Azera we have had since October. The center console had a small rip and the tranny felt like it was slipping going from reverse to drive. It had 530 miles and was loaded up with nav.

Forgot where I read it, but it was on a website that the 2011 Azera will be called something else and is not related to the Genesis/Equus at all. Guess this is similar to what they did with the XG350.
BTW, resale value is always a consideration for any car and especially so if Hyundai expects to really compete with the Japanese and Europeans.
