The Sonata Hybrid with the LG Chem Li-Ion batteries looks attractive.

The Chevy Volt if they price it correctly looks attractive as a plug in Hybrid with the LG Chem Li-Ion batteries.

On that note, I fell in LOVE with the new Challenger today.  I just don't know if I can justify nearly $40k (after all the demand dies out a bit) for a gas guzzler with little practicality.  Although, it would be a friggin' BLAST to drive.

The only way to go: V8 R/T (cuz the blue isn't available on the SRT), 6MT, Nav, Sunroof and all the goodies.  Sticker's out at $38,770 but they're selling for a LOT more right now.  Maybe in a year...

I hear ya! The Challenger rocks in every way possible when it comes to testosterone-appeal. I'd take an orange one in a heartbeat!

Ok, now that I am back down to reality, I am keeping the Sonata at least a few years after its paid for. Even with my minor issues like the driver seat track and two oxygen sensors it has not deterred me. Around 2014 I will see what is on the market but I will definitely START at Hyundai with a Sonata or larger!

The Challenger was my first Car in 1975. A used 70 Purple Challenger that

I had painted Yellow. The new Bare Bones Challenger without ABS & ESC &

EBD, and all the other standard Features on the Sonata has a MSRP of $21.9K.

I would probably regret. I will say my Challenger & Charger broke down so

many times. My friend had a Hemi 426 Charger that he couldn't keep running.

I raced him once with my 400 CID Charger. Very embarrassing! :w00t:

i really dont think ima get another hyundai after this. i had my heart set on a 1 series bmw but i got an awesome deal on the sonata so most likey ima end up getting a bmw after the sonata. im not a one car company kinda guy really dont care only thing is that it cant be american only imported

that depends on whether or not Hyundai has a diesel model, pretty sure our next vehicle will be a diesel engined something or other.  If I were to buy today it would be a Jetta

Exactly. I'm not fond of Hybrids (batteries, etc), it looks like Diesel for me as well. That's exactly what I would buy if I could afford some smaller space on the interior. if perhaps Hyundai brought Diesels to Canada....

I would most likely get a Base model V6 Genesis or Hybrid Sonata, Suzuki Sx4 sport sedan with Technology package.

Well my first car was a 1985 Pony 1.6 I've been driving Hyundai's since.
Next car is going to be a Sonata.

I've left my Sonata behind for the '09 MBZ C class, but for some reason I can't leave this forum behind!!! :beer:

I don't know what it is, I really like the general layout of the forum and there is a lot of activity on it. All the MB forums I've been on I either A) Don't like the layout of the site or B ) It is inactive and the people on it are not as 'fun'

That said, the '09 Sonata was a VERY real option for me, but equipped as I wanted, I couldn't justify buying it new.... $30,000 for a hyundai was a hard sell...

Heck, for a minute I even considered the "Police Interceptor" Crown Victoria...
Great price, big car, smooth ride and steering and above all it is a menacing sight in the rearview mirror... esp w/ a good paint job, black (not chrome) grill, and a push bar up front....VERY sexy IMO...

Just bought a used 2008 Sonata GLS 2.4L to replace the 2003 Elantra GT I smashed up a couple weeks ago. I wanted another Elantra but couldn't find one in the trim level I wanted. Was about to settle on an '07 Elantra when I found this '08 Sonata on Autotrader.com, FOR THE SAME PRICE. I bought it that afternoon.

After driving rented Hyundais in the past and having walked away from a serious crash in the Elantra, I had no qualms about buying another Hyundai. The only other car I seriously considered was the new Ford Focus, mainly because that was my rental car the past couple weeks, and it had SYNC which worked really nicely. But I'm learning to live without it (though it would have been nice to get a 2009 Sonata Limited with Bluetooth and USB input).

Sadly it wasnt i just had that new car itch and the 2009 Sonata just seemed like it had alot of problems that hyundai hadnt taken care of so i just ended up getting into a G35S yesterday (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif)

Sensative issue:
If I were to base my experience on the car I have now, it would be a definite no-way to Hyundai for any reason. The dealerships are deceptive, the servicing has not been unified (too many people have scratched their heads on what is policy), there are several workmanship issues with the end-user product (body panels not aligning, roof buckling at the edges, suspension rattling, gas tank sloshing, and worse of all the programming of the ECU and BCM) for me to consider buying another Hyundai. The prices have become equal to the Toyota Camry, but have missed the mark of logevity. The corperate needs to take a step back and realize the car may be a contender in the family sedan catagory, but if they continue to be represented by shifty dealerships the general public will not tollerate being treated with dishonesty. We all have worked too hard for our money to be decieved by empty promises.

My 2009 Hyundai Sonata is being replaced soon by another Sonata, maybe the second time around will be the charm. I certainly hope so, this first go around has tought me how to be very demanding of what a dealership writes down. Hyundai preys on customers when it comes to recieving what was promised, I have spent the last three months battling them for a replacement.

I may look into Hyundai for my next car, although I just purchased my 2009 Limited so i'm good for awhile. I actually traded in a 2007 Santa Fe that had almost zero issues, only an o2 sensor was replaced and even that caused no issues. Right now I have no desire to change unless I find something else I may like more which will be tough since I am loving my car. I would take a Genesis though no question, its just a little more then I currently need. Lets see what the new Sonata has to offer.....

Maybe a 2012 Honda Insight Hybrid or Certified 2009 Hyundai Genesis V6 or V8, Certified 2009-2010 Cadillac STS V6 or V8.

If gas Prices are high it might be the Honda Insight which gets 70 Mpg, if they are Low the STS or Genesis will do.

As for me, I don't know that I'd buy another Hyundai, though not for a lack of quality. While I love my car, the depreciation is astounding. My short list right now consists of 1) Challenger, 2) 2007+ G35/37 Sedan, 3) 2007+ IS350, and 4) Chevy Volt. I'll probably stick to my usual plan and buy a 1 or 2 year old, low mileage used car to avoid some of the depreciation while still maintaining warranty. Either way, I'm planning on keeping the Sonata at least another year or two before trading it in.


All that being said, if the next Sonata is a winner in all departments (looks, quality, reliability, and value), I may add it back to the list. I've really rather enjoyed having Mep for the last 15 months.

Haha thanks! I haven't actually put it up for sale yet, have to wait until the coupe comes out. I'm not sure how much to try to sell it for though (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

I paid 20,000 before taxes for my Sonata my car is worth 15,000 not bad for owning a car that i had for two years.

I went and gawked at a genesis today, but couldn't drive it since they weren't open.
Big, black, tinted and sitting hunkered down over some very pretty 18" mesh/bbs style wheels.

I've gotta say, it's the only hyundai on my list right now, but it is tempting.

YOU liked a Genesis?! I thought you said they were hideous. Or were you just appalled at the goofy grin on the coupe (which I rather like BTW)?



EDIT: Nevermind, I just realized you said the Genesis grew on you after a while. I think it looks a LOT like it wants to be a G37 Sedan. And as much as I prefer bolder colors, the Sterling Blue Metallic (the silver blue color) looks absolutely stunning on that car.
