Unless there's something seriously expensive wrong with KC when her engine or tranny craps out, she's getting a rebuild. I like the car THAT MUCH!!! :trophy:

I could care less that the salvage value of the car would be less than the cost of the rebuild; a rebuild is WAY cheaper than buying another car.

:amen:

When it's time to replace the 06 Sonata it'll most likely be replaced by whatever the current Sonata is, though that might be some time down the road.

To answer the subject question literally, no, the next car I buy will not be a Sonata or Hyundai.

Well the Sonata is my 2nd Hyundai in a row (replaced my '04 Elantra GT). I'm planning on keeping it for some time yet as I still truly love the car and it works great for everything I need it for. Its hard to say what I will replace it with as I'm planning on holding on to it for some time yet, but currently the Genesis would be high up on the list of possibilities.

That being said I keep telling the wife I'm going to keep the Sonata as a family car once its paid off and buy a "weekend car."

I had a 2002 Sonata GL 4cyl before and then bought and 07 Sonata Limited in Canada and now I bought a 2008 Sonata V6 in KSA. So ya I think I will definetly buy another Hyundai after this one as all of them have been trouble free except for the paint in 06-08 sonatas lol

I will probebly not get another Sonata but I can definetly see my self in the next Azera or Genesis V8

I'd consider another hyundai, but not new off the dealers lot.

My actual next car will probably be something two door, v8 and sporty.

Maybe, but new Sonata prices make even a Sonata a hard to make sale.

I might go for another Sonata. So far I really love mine, but I don't care so much for the looks of the 09s. So if I had to get another 08; sure. If I had to get an 09+; maybe.

Also, I try to keep cars forever, so who's to say once I want/need another car the Sonata's will be up to par with where they are now. Much can be said about Jeep. I love my old Cherokee, but I wouldn't even consider a current one or any other Chrysler vehicle today.

This car too, is my second Hyundai. Bought 2000 Elantra in Nov of 99 Traded for Sonata in Jan of 08. Will drive this one for hopefully that long and will definately look at Hyundais when selecting a new car. I have to agree with "V", as I am anxiously awaiting the release of the Genises Coupe. I would still like to see the Sonata come out as a 2dr Coupe. I got an Idea????? Maybe we can contact Chip Foose and we can get him to to use "V's" Sonata on Overhaulin and turn it into a two door coupe????????? :

second Hyundai for us too.. although, that's a bit of a generic statement since our first Hyundai was the '07 Tucson that we bought in June '07 and the '06 Sonata was bought in July '07.. heh...

too early to tell about it being the same brand the next time.. depends on the success we have with them throughout the life of the vehicle.. so far, 1 year on from purchasing both Hyundais, signs look good as neither of us have had any problems with our cars (knock on wood).. but 4+ years down the road is when we will really know...

Well by the time I am in the market for a replacement a new Sonata will be out. The Sonata is a great value right now but whether I'll get another depends on what it looks like, value of the package then and what the competition has out. It's certainly possible I'll get another but there are many variables. The 09 model got slightly more expensive, and if other manufacturers get their act together I think the Sonata will have even more competition. I certainly will consider Hyundai just as much as I will Honda or Toyota though.

I go for "bang for the buck", considering size, quality, comfort, reliability, features, safety, and appearance. When I purchased a new car 2-1/2 years ago, it was the Sonata. In 6-7 years, I will start researching for my next car. I have no idea what it will be. The Sonata or its replacement will certainly be high on my research list, but I am not a brand loyalist.

Considering the almost 48,000 miles my car has and only 2 minor problems (power mirror switch and door lock motor) I will most surely look at another Hyundai... although I'd like to move up to the Azera or Genesis!

I'll make my decision the same way I decided to buy Sonata this year. I'll choose a car with the best balance of all factors: quality, reliability, size, affordability etc. If Hyundai continues with the great work that next car might as well be another Sonata.

Honestly, I won't know the answer to your question until that time comes. What I do know is that I plan to keep the Sonata for the long haul as I really like it and it's a perfect fit for a daily driver. My goal is to have it (and my Mustang) paid off by the end of 2010. Then from there, I plan to start investing my money in my future. If the Sonata can last well beyond 2010 (and I don't have any reason to think it wouldn't) then there's a good chance I'll have this car 'til at least 2013 - 2014 meaning the car would have been in my ownership for at least 7 years (more than double the amount of time I have ever kept any car). I take real good care of my cars so I feel confident in saying that I will find the Sonata an attractive car in 5 years as I do right now. The only problem for me would be resisting getting something new and/or trendy (i.e. new Camaro, Genesis 4 cylinder coupe, .etc) before I'm actually ready to get a new vehicle.

This is also my 2nd Hyundai. My first being a brand new 99 Hyundai Accent GL sedan which is going on 10 years being in the family with no major problems. My mom has it now and uses it as her ride.

that depends on whether or not Hyundai has a diesel model, pretty sure our next vehicle will be a diesel engined something or other. If I were to buy today it would be a Jetta

On that note, I fell in LOVE with the new Challenger today. I just don't know if I can justify nearly $40k (after all the demand dies out a bit) for a gas guzzler with little practicality. Although, it would be a friggin' BLAST to drive.

The only way to go: V8 R/T (cuz the blue isn't available on the SRT), 6MT, Nav, Sunroof and all the goodies. Sticker's out at $38,770 but they're selling for a LOT more right now. Maybe in a year...

As for the OP's question, I'd definitely consider another Hyundai (Sonata or larger), but I'm looking for a bit more fun on the next go-round. I'm 28 and single, so the family sedan practicality of the Sonata isn't really a necessity for me, but it does come in quite handy at times. Decisions, decisions...

Its a hard decision for me, i love my sonata to death it was my first car ive actually bought myself and have driven since it rolled off the lot. My previous car was a Saturn SC2 Coupe but was my dads previously. When the day comes to replace my sonata will be very sad, its hard to say if i would get another sonata after this or stick with hyundai , i really like the genesis but i would fear to purchase one the first or 2nd year, the chances of problems are really high, plus ive read rumors that possible 2010 or 11 the car will be well over 400 hp. The only other thing that bothers me is the price id want the 4.6 and for the price i could buy a nice infiniti ,bmw, lexsus or benz which are more recognized , and plus id want to see what all the hype was about with those makers.
hopefully i can keep my current car in good shape and use her while i save for a car i can keep mint, or just keep buying nice adds on for the sonata :P

Maybe.
If it's still best bang for a buck, with nice warranty and quality.
Especially hybrid one.
