^^^ I already asked my old boss, an attorney, about lemon laws in IL.  Its gotta be within 12k and the first year of ownership with 4 unsuccessful repairs.  So it appears I'm out of luck as well for lemon laws.

You're experiencing the same issue my dealership can't figure out either.  New cushion, same problem....  Has me worried as well.

Well...since the lemon law is out, I guess I'll just have to warranty them to death and since I paid to have the bumper to bumper pushed to 10yr/100K miles...I'm good. If they have to end up replacing every sensor in that car...fine by me, just make that **** light stay off! LOL

Heaven forbid I get into an accident and the airbag(s) don't deploy...guess who'll be getting a Genesis for free!

This is my first posting, so I hope it works correctly.

The air bag dash light has been on, in my 2007 Azera for 6 weeks (purchased in October 2007). The dealership has it and have ordered a new driver seat. They say that is the only way to fix the sensor problem. Delivery is supposed to be just under a week.

I have previously had the dash replaced under warranty because of the "crack" around the passenger side air bag. The service rep said it was from the cut out for the air bag being made too deep in the manufacturing process. The "crack" was very smooth and conformed to the air bag shape. This replacement was done in early 2008 and the service rep said it was the second one he had seen like it.

Looks like an excellent post to me.
Did you buy your 2007 Azera as a new car, and how many miles are on it now?

Are there any front suspension issues? :innocent:

The Azera was purchased new October 2007 and currently has ~ 23,000 miles.

I have no suspension issues, other than stiff and the Azera has a shorter wheel base than I have been driving and is a little rough from 32 psi tire pressure.

:)

Good for you. It sounds like you bought one with a later build date.
The build date is on the pillar between the drivers' door and the rear door.

Another question: Which Michelins does your car have, the S8s or the Energy MXV4 Plus?

If he bought the vehicle in October, 2007 then it most likely has a build date in August 2007 or earlier. With the transport time necessary, there is no way there was a build date in October 2007, let alone after 10/20/2007 when the new shocks started to be used in new production.

But great that the suspension is working well on that Azera!

:)

"let alone before" should be changed to let alone after 10/20/2007
when the new shocks started to be used in new production.

Some cars that were built prior to 10/20/07 but after mine and tcarr925's build dates of 12-12-06
and his Jan 07 date respectfully do have better shocks than we both got originally.
Putting that another way, I think Mando must have gotten their quality
control act together before changing over to the newest part numbers.

That's why I was trying to determine if Thill42's 2007 Azera build date fell into that time frame.

Sorry, I do not have access to the Azera to check the build date. It is at the dealership awaiting the replacement seat.

It has Energy MXV4 Plus tires. Only found one dealer in Houston who had a replacement in stock when a nail ruined one.

I was able to get them to run the codes again today. Since its been intermittent and they showed as historical it wasn't showing the right code. It was only showing a pods code which is the seat cushion. However since mine is new its not the problem. Turns out the problem is the passenger seat belt pre-tensioner. It never recorded that code as historical. However when they ran it today cause the airbag light was on, it threw the pre-tensioner and pods code together. So they are going to replace my entire passenger seat belt system and hopefully that will be the end of the problems.

If you haven't been able to get your dealer to run the codes while the light is on, call them up, tell them you need 2 minutes for a tech to pull the codes while the light is on. Just make sure you leave the car on when you park it. I'd be willing to bet it throws a pods code and a pre-tensioner code.

FYI, I did confirm that if that main airbag light is on, the pass airbag will NOT deploy in an accident.

The seat belt pre-tensioner was my initial problem, then my seat cushion. Now...I'm not sure what they'll say because now...the air bag light stays on constantly, whereas before...it would come on here and there, but usually stay off for days at a time.

Getting them to check the codes while the air bag light is on won't be a problem now. I'm just hoping that this annoyance can be resolved.

Mines in today to have the whole right side passenger seatbelt system replaced. The rear sunshade replaced, and the steering wheel replaced. Hopefully they can put it back on straight.

Okie dokie...took mine in this morning as my air bag light had been on 2 days after replacing the seat cushion. They checked the codes and said they all came up as historical codes. They made a note of them, cleared them and said if the light comes on again and they check the codes and it's the same ones....they'll have to do something else.

They ordered the seat back heater for my driver seat since it isn't working anymore, they replaced the faux wood on my center console since they scratched it all to **** when the replaced the cushion. They had to reinstall the bracket for the heat shield for the catalytic converter since it fell off one day and they replaced a light bulb for me as well. Not to mention...they washed before giving it back to me as well.

With 60,045 miles...I'm loving this warranty!!! Not a single penny came out of my pocket. Oh well...I'll keep you posted if I have any other issues with the air bag light.

Warranty is nice. My SM is finally stepping up a little bit. He drove me to work so I didn't have to wait for the **** shuttle. Ordered my sunshade without making me bring it in to prove it was broken.

You know...that's the joy of building a relationship with the folks in the service department. They start to understand you know your car and if you say it's broke...they understand you know what you mean and they can take care of things before you even come in. Kudos to them for being proactive and not a bunch of a-holes. I've been going to this particular service department for 6 years and I can honestly say...it's like hangin out with old friends.

I wish they'd just give me another azera or genesis to play with for the day while my obvious safety defect is being repaired. No such luck though.

Well they didnt get my car done today so they kept it over night. They stepped up and got me a rental car for tomorrow. Ironically I think the Kia Spectra rental I have rides quieter, has a better suspension, and snappier throttle response than my azera. Though it argues with me at highway speeds while passing, falls on its face after about 70mph.

Sorry to hear that, the got everything done for me in a couple hours. Left the dealer and all was well. When I left work to pick up my daughter, the air bag light came on again and stayed on until I got to the baby sitter's house. Got back in and started it and the light didn't come on. This morning, the light didn't come on as well...so, called the dealer and they want me to try and bring it in next time the light comes on...when it comes on.

As far as the Spectra, gotta expect a little more pep as it's only a 4 spd so the gearing is much different. I'm surprised if falls flat after 70 mph. The '02 Sonata I had was great at highway speeds and with the shiftronic, passing was a breeze.

Whoever designed the shift knob in the spectra is an idiot. It defaults to 3 instead of drive when you put it in gear, so if you're not careful you're driving around with a 3 speed instead of a 4 speed all the time. Shiftronic... ha... not in this tin can.

There are two things I like about it.... the direct throttle cable instead of the delayed fly by wire of the azera, and the factory installed aux input jack.
