Never had the shade up. I had one on my 2006 Camry. Nothing but problems, rattles ect. Really don't see a need for a rear window shade. Just adds more problems than its worth.

I usually raise it only when there's a high-end Lexus or Mercedes stopped behind me at a light... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/innocent.gif)

I had this problem too. The shade was replaced under warranty. The new one sounds different, it sounds very solid.

Mine crapped out last summer. Dealer didn't blink an eye and replaced it. No problems so far w/ the new one. Just a nice WHIRRRRRRRR THUNK when it retracts. I'd be willing to bet I use the thing more than anyone else on the site too. 42k and counting.

Well, we had the "Entire Assembly" replaced and what a difference.
You can hardly hear it as it moves from the up to down position and back.
It seems like they may have it right this time.
