I've been having a wierd whirring sound when I accelerate for the last 1000 miles or so. I have about 19k miles on my 20007 Azera Limited. As a driver, I do have a somewhat heavy foot so I worry that I tax the engine/transmission too much. Anyone else have this issue or know what it could be? Thank you in advance for all your help.

2011's started showing up at dealers a week ago. We received a 2011 Limited in silver with black leather and nav. Sticker is $33,145. Seems like most dealers are all getting Limited's equipped the same way.
Has anyone seen one? They look, dare I say sporty! Pictures don't do the 11's justice because when I saw them, I thought to myself " what did they do". I didn't notice much on the inside except for new turnsignal and wiper stalks.

Which car should I buy? Hyundai or Ford?
I`m looking to buy a new car but I`m not sure which one to get. I narrowed my choices down to the Ford Fusion or the Hyundai Sonata. Both are good cars at a good price but I was unsure of which to get. Any suggestion or comments about either car would be very helpful

I need your help and input with the problem I'm having with my 2008 Azera Limited.
When I purchased th car I opted to have the navigation system installed Now I find myself in a quandary. While I am using the XM Satellite radio tuner part of the system a whirring sound is present. Have had it in for service various times and they say that they cant reproduce it. I don't care if they can reproduce it or not. I want it gone.
To me it sounds like a ground is not properly.
Any light you guys can shed on this issue will be much appreciated

I was going to do a poll, but I can't get the poll function to work.
Anyway, I'm curious to hear how many Azera owners have had suspension issues with their Azera. In particular, the wallowing and harshness and/or clunking over rough/uneven pavement.
Please reply with the following info:
-Year of your Azera
-Mileage at which you began to notice a problem
-How many times your vehicle has been in to the dealer for this issue and the results of each "fix"
As for the Azera owners who don't have problems, please feel free to chime in with your experience as well.
If nothing else maybe one of us can forward this information to Hyundai Motor America. If enough people speak up about this problem they might take the issue a little more seriously.

Well after months of no real noise from my suspension the pot hole of the Spring and steal plates in the summer have caused a problem with the suspension on my Hyundai Azera. I was in the car with my lady friend a few weeks back and noticed a rusty noise coming from the right front side of the car. Sound like something not just right. When I got home I walked to the front of the car and pushed down on the hood and I did hear a funny sound like a squeek cracking sound on the left side.
Still under warranty I took the car up to the dealer and explained the problem. The last time I took the car to the dealer they didn't hear anything but this time I made sure to tell them that there is something wrong with the front end and drive it slowly and you will hear a cracking rusty squeeky sound. Sure enough they found something and the links needs to be taken off and new ones put on so they neeed to order the parts. Thursday I will have them put on and I hope that is problem. Links what in the heck are links? It takes about a hour in a half to put them on. Just by going over a little bump I can hear noise, or even backing out of the drive. So we shall see if the links are the real problem.

My husband and I have a 2006 Azera which we love. It is the one with the fast motor, purchased in Canada. We are wondering if we can tow a trailer and if so what weight would be safe for the car. We are reluctant to ask our Hyundai dealer because we have learned the hard way that they are unreliable.
Any thoughts appreciated.

ON smooth highway at varying speeds I can hear a rhythmic bumping/thumping noise from the front end of our 2008 Limited with 26,000 miles. It is speed sensitive but I can't tell if it would be a wheel bearing going bad or tire noise from the stock Michelins or maybe one out of balance though I don't feel anything as much as I hear something.
I guess I can take it to dealer to see if they can diagnose. Any thoughts or suggestions on what it might be? I've never been a fan of Michelins and I'll be putting a different tire on when i replace these which will probably be by 30K miles.
Thanks Mike

So I just went to see if I could get a remote car starter installed in my Azera, and learned that there are no bypass solutions available for it. I then went to the dealership to see if they have one, or what they do when installing car starters in an Azera, and they informed me that they've never installed a car starter in one before, and that they don't think it's possible... Has anyone here ever had a car starter installed in their Azera, and if so have any idea how to do the bypass?? I'm really hoping it's possible, as this is kind of an important thing for my wife and I, as we live in Saskatchewan and it's not uncommon for temperatures to drop below 40 celcius...

Yesterday (Sunday 9/21) I took a trip from Ft. Worth to Austin, TX. It was 204 miles one way.
Here are the details:
Azera limited/Ultimate 3.8L with no luggage or anything to weigh it down except for my big a&& in the driver's seat.
Departed 5:30 a.m.
Reset all info just after gassing up and two blks from interstate.
Interstate all the way except for all about 3 miles of the trip.
Road was virtually traffic free with little or no wind and a very flat road all the way. No construction slow downs.
I was able to use cruise control for all but about three miles of the trip because there was no traffic to contend with. I kid you not when I say my foot didn't touch the accelerator from the time I got on the freeway in Ft. Worth until my exit in Austin (about 200 miles).
I set cruise control according to the speed limit which was mostly 70 mph except for a few stretches where it was 65 mph and one stretch at 55 mph. I used the buttons on the cruise control to slow down and accelerate when necessary.
I traveled 204.3 miles from start to finish.
I filled up again when I got off the exit and checked the mileage. It was 27.7 mpg give or take a few tenths. This was very close to the car's computer read out on the instrument cluster (27.6 mpg).
My question is, how the he!! are people getting 30-33 mpg in highway driving unless they are traveling 45-55 mph to do it.
BTW, I've been averaging 17.6 mpg in light city driving. This is up from 16.+ since I started using full synthetic oil.

Before I go prying around and brake something, I was wondering how to go about removing the dash trim so I can remove the radio? I did a search and didn't find any procedure listed. Can anybody help me out? Thanks.

Here on the SF East Bay Area we have a lot of gravel trucks dropping gravel on the roadways. My 2007 Azera just had its windshield broken by one of these rocks. Has anyone had to replace their Azera windshield yet? If so what were your experiences for those of you who had a Hyundai OEM windshield installed. How about those of you that had a generic Azera fit windshield installed? I just want to avoid any optical, mechanical, mirror mount, or other problems. Any comments on this would be greatly appreciated.

Bought new tires for my 06 Azera yesterday. What a difference in the ride from the stock tires- MICHELINŪ Brand Tires. I put the Continental Extreme contact Dws Tires on the car and they are great. I'm not saying it will fix your suspension problem, but my ride is so much better with the new shoes.

I had an existing account from a couple of years ago on hmaservice.com and tried to access it today and it would not work. I tried to register again with a new UID and got as far as clicking on the access agreement and an empty screen comes up. I tried the suggestion on the registration page - holding down the control key while waiting for the next page to load and still an empty page. I even went as far as updating my Java software and still unable to access the agreement page. I use Firefox Mozilla browser, not IE Explorer (I do not want to use IE Explorer).
Has anyone found a way to register with Firefox Mozilla Browser? It used to work as I am still using the same computer.

Has anyone used a ScanGauge II to set up special gauges to display such as:
O2 Sensor Data for (bank 1, sensor 1)
(bank 2, sensor 1)
(bank 1, sensor 2)
(bank 2, sensor 2)
Air/Fuel (A/F) Ratio (bank 1, sensor 1)

(bank 1, sensor 2)
(bank 2, sensor 2)
Catalyst Temperature (bank 1, sensor 1)
(bank 2, sensor 1)
(bank 1, sensor 2)
(bank 2, sensor 2)
I am currently researching how to display some of the detailed parameters such as the above and air flow sensor readings in the air intake area.
Does anyone know the number and placement of air flow sensors in the Azera 3.8L engine intake and the number and placement of O2 sensors?

Hi,
I was thinking about improving milage and power in my Azzy with out any mods of the engine (warranty issues and I'm not a car mechanic).
I heard about air filter replacement K&N. Is it any good?
Doe it really improve fuel consumption or is it just a commercial trick?
I found this one:
2007 HYUNDAI Azera 3.8L V6 F/I - All Automotive Air Filter 33-2346
http://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?Prod=33-2346If it really works - how difficult is to replace air filter?

Hey, I was wondering if there are any Midwest area Hyundai owners around (4-6hrs from Detroit)?
I'm looking to set up a HF meet in michigan around the time of the Woodward Dream Cruise.
For those who don't know google Woodward dream cruise for some cool stuff. It's basically a super meet and drive...well not much driving just slow coasting. But anyway, i'm seeing tons of car meets here in Michigan and sadly nothing dealing with hyundias.
Just wondering if anyone would be interested in a meet.
I was thinking of having a meet at the Hyundai/Kia tech center and from there just join some cruises in Michigan.
I'm aiming for a aug 20/21.
It's kinda last minute, but it would be nice to meet other Hyundai owners and hang out.
If aug too soon, we can set something up before the winter comes in.
And to the mods...sorry for not posting in the meet forum...from experience (mc accent) ppl notice meets more on the discussion forum rather that the meet forum.

Recently I've noticed that while driving my wife's Azera with 17,000 miles on it the dash white lights (speedo, temp and fuel) will go out at times. At first I thought that it or I was effected by the sun's position but then they come back on. The amber lights are dim along with the green cruise control light. Has anyone had this or similar problem?

OK, The raddle is in or near the front speaker in the center dash. It looks like some of the plastic dash components are cracked. I don't know if this could lead to the issue. Does anyone know how to pop the center speaker cover so I can put some kind of foam tape on the area that seems to be the raddle sourse?

Time for me to cut bait and fish on buying replacement tires for my 08 Limited for the OEM Michelins. At a little over 30K (we bought the car with 22K); there's not much tread left in spite of regular rotations and moderate non-agressive driving on our part and I know the previous owner and he's not a hard driver either. I plan to get it aligned for sure but I sure haven't been impressed with the OEM tires especially noise though I've never been a big Michelin fan. Though I'm very good on maintaining pressures and regularly rotating my tires; I've never gotten good life out of Michelins going back to a 94 Bonneville. Right now the leading candidate I'm looking at is General Altimax HP. My wife drives the Azera mostly and neither of us drive hard so a tire that gives good life, reasonable ride and low noise is what we are looking for. Treadepot has the HP in the 235/55R17 size for $107
I've seen other posts on Kumho tires that I've never owned but I'd be interested in anyone else's thoughts as I'll order online this week and get them mounted, balanced and installed locally and then aligned.
Thanks,
Mike in Alabama

Just wondering if anyone would have any idea if it is possible to install the Navigation system that comes with the newer Azera models into a 2006 Azera Limited? I would like to get a navigation system, but would prefer to keep it OEM as it will fit the interior design of the car better than an aftermarket one will...
Also what's the deal with the horn in these cars? I don't know if it's just from being inside the car the horn doesn't sound very loud, but it's almost embarrassing to use... My wife and I can't help but laugh whenever we use it because it just sounds so meek... lol

OK we found the raddle. It was one of the bolts that held the radio in place. The dealer was great and worked on it until they fixed it. If anyone has the same issue of a deep raddle in the dash have the dealer check the radio bolts. If you don't think this is a really good car, go take a drive in the overpriced stuff that's out there right now!

My wife's 08 had 33,000 miles so I decided to drain the tranny (but not a full drain by disconnecting the cooler line) but only what I could get out through the drain plug.
Not hard. Removed plastic shield and drained fluid into clean container. Wiped magnet on drain plug off (it had some sludge on it but nothing of note) and reinstalled at 33 ft-lbs. Measured what fluid I drained out so I could be close on refill and it took almost exactly 5 qts. I had bought 7 from Hyundai so I'll save the two others for next time. I don't guess that stuff would go bad sitting in the plastic jug.
I did have my car on ramps so that may affect how much fluid I got out.
It wasn't a hard job at all and since the capacity of the transaxle is about 10-11 qts. I think I have some peace of mind knowing I at least replaced half of it. Old fluid was darker but smelled fine with no burnt odor of any kind.

I have been reading the post and it seems that most of the issues with the Azera are consistant across the board. I have an issue, i'm hoping that someone can lead me a direction getting a solution.
My 06 azera will not crank or start some times. I put the Key in and nothing happens. The lights and radio all the bells and whistles work but the car wont start or crank. I turn the key and nothing, just silence. I take the key out and wait for 2 to 5 minutes at most then the car starts.
I just wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this and what was the cause? Or does anyone have an idea of what can be the root of the problem.
I have taken it to the dealer and because the problem will not replicate itself for them, they can not fix it.
so any replies are greatly appreciated.
thanks

My wife today finally told the dealer service consultant NO while there for her $15 oil change, when he recommended she replace the spark plugs at a total cost of $411, which was broken down into labor of $273 and $23/ea for the 6 plugs.
I can't wait until she returns to see what the owners' manual suggests for plug replacement interval, but it seems most modern engines have a 100,000 mile life for so called "tune ups".
I've often been amazed when she falls for the service recommendations when there for the give away oil changes, like cabin filter changes at $120 and brake cleaning for $150. How do they look themselves in the mirror after taking advantage of people like that ?

Anyone had a problem?
I have a 2007 Azera Limited, purchased last fall. When it came in (purchased in Fla at an auction) it was missing the right rear door handle. Odd, but we had it replaced. No problem.
Last week, the R side front handle was damaged and it came off at a local car wash.
This is two door handles gone from the car in less than a year. I've driven for 35+ years and never had a problem with any door handle. Nopw 2 in less than a year?

My 2008 Azera manual describes a fuel tank air filter which should be replaced at 30,000 miles. I have no clue where this is and how to replace it. Any suggestions?
Also, as my Azera is at 32,000; I thought i'd go ahead and drain and fill the transmission and do it myself after buying fluid from Hyundai dealer. Is simply draining the 5-6 qts. that comes out of the drain plug sufficient or is that worthless unless you disconnect the tranny cooler line and run engine till all fluid is out and refill with same qty.?
thanks.

I own a 2008 hyundai azera and love the vehicle. In the year the Ihave owned it no problems and reliable compared to my chrysler town & country minivan. Just recently bought a 2005 used hyundai elantra for my mother in law and driving it out to arizona. I fully cleaned it and have had one minor issue p0303 message on the check engine light. Having that fixed and then driving it to arizona. Saw a used genesis for $28,000 full loaded 3.8 v 6 with navigation. Is it worth trading in my azera? Seems like a nice car

I own a 2008 Azera Ltd that I purchased from CarMax. The car only had 2300 hunded miles on it when I purchased it, but, apparently it had been stolen from the original owner. I think the insurance company paid the original owner off, recovered the vehicle, then sold it to CarMax. When I purchased it, there was not writeen info concerning the NAV system, no disks, nothing. I took it to my local Hyundai dealer, and could not get any info concerning the NAV system. We have been using the system, and really like it, but, it is time to get the internal maps updated. I have no idea who to contact to find the new NAV updates. The Hyundai dealer is not helping me any (maybe because I didn't purchase the vehicle from them. Can anybody give me any hints as to where I should be looking for the NAV updates?

Two days ago 05/17/2010 I purchased a new 2009 Hyundai Azera. It was loaded with a sticker of close to 34,000. It had an add on of 3,000 in that amount for the Navigation System. I looked at the map software that is dated in 2007. I will see the dealer tomorrow and tell him I'm not happy that the map software is so out of date when there is 2009 software or maybe 2010 available and will ask him to come good for the update. Does anyone think they should foot the bill or do you think I should. One way or another I'm going to have the update but think the dealer should be responsible for some of the cost if not all. Thanks

Anyone had a raddle in the dash? It seems to be coming near the center air ducts. I will be taking it back to the dealer for the second time. This thing is driving me nuts!!!

Does anyone know if there is a site that has a parts catalog for review with a diagram of the car and such?
Cancel this...found the hmaservice link on the website. Unless there is something different.

Wife came home in her 2006 Azera and said that key was hard to remove and then key-in-ignition-with-door-open chime kept chirping. Now cannot put key into lock far enough to start engine. Turned steering wheel manually to make sure that interlock was not hung up. Wheel turns OK. Released gear shift by using small release button on center console. Gear selector position does not solve problem. The chime problem probably means that ignition lock thinks that key is still inserted. Has anyone run up against this problem before? Any thoughts on cure other then getting a tow to the dealer?

--> The other question is that it is possible to close windows when I push to close on the commander of the car.
Thanks for helping me

and if anyone donīt understand something, please ask me, I will try to explain in another way

Anyone notice that their Azera has extremely poor AM reception?
Know of a solution (other than not listening to AM)?
