So I emailed KSpec just now (and they got back to me in under 2 minutes!!). They have an Engine Mount Set for Verna 00-06
http://www.kspec.com/list.php?ac_id=69&ai_id=1599 , so I figured it'd be worth asking.
I asked:
QUOTE
Are you guys going to make a KSPEC Engine Mount Set for Verna set for 2008 Hyundai Accents? I would buy a set if you had one.
They replied:
QUOTE
Thank you for visiting kSpec.
Dear *****,
We do not currently have one for newest Verna.
But if you purchase $199 one and if you tell us your engine type, we can make one for you.
If you need this in hurry, you can do this way.
And if you don’t need this urgently, you can simply wait J
Thank you and have a good day.
Sales Team
kSpec.com
So does that mean that we very possibly could have someone that will make us Poly Engine Mounts??? If so, this could be awesome. For twice the price of the engine damper, we could have more rock-solid performance. And I suppose if you added the damper in addition to engine mounts, you'd see even more results.
This could be epic.
But what do they mean "if you tell us your engine type"?
Does that mean they'll custom make ones for me or what?

So, with my stealth box, I have 1.29 cubic feet to play with. It realistically is too big for my Polk Momo 8" sub.
I'm wanting to sell my 8" and buy a 10" or 12" sub. I could pay $200 for the Digital Designs Sub, but am I ever going to play it that loud? Probably not.
So, with that being said:
I've been looking into the 10" Alpine Type R. I have found it online for as low as $79 + shipping. Specs :
http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/products/p...ng=en&tab=FI don't have to have brand new, and I have been looking through the pawn shops as well.
I ran across a box with 2- 10" Rockford Fosgate P2 subs for $69
I have also been looking at the Kenwood 12" sub:
http://www.kenwoodusa.com/Car_Entertainmen...rs/KFC-W3012DVCAny other suggestions? I'm wanting to stay below $100

hi there... I've lost the spare set of keys for my '09 accent.... Is there anything special with the key (other than the chip?)... basically, do I need to go to the dealer for the actual key, or is there somewhere I can buy one, and then get it programed at the dealership... as well as the FOB, I found one on eBay, seller says that it will work, but can I have it working with my factory fob? I don't want to shell out the $300+ if I don't have to...
Thanks
Steve

Sooooo...
I bought a brand new Hyundai Accent SE in september, september 4th, to be exact. I've mainly used it to drive around the area my college is in, around Vassar, mostly light-city, some light hwy driving.
Anyway, the car has been GREAT. It is SO fun too drive, much more fun than my previous car, a 1989 Integra. More than enough pickup to blast me down local city streets, and keep up with everyone on the highway, even BMWs and Audis.
So all is good. I have had a lot of big papers and projects for various classes, but I should be putting on the front/rear mudguards this weekend.
I've kept track of almost every fillup since purchase.
Today I pulled into a parking spot and yanked the parking brake like I always do, and today it felt...weird. It still locks it in place--i.e. still works. But...it feels not as tight. Is this just normal working-in that the car does to adjust to my driving/braking/parking braking style? Or have I been a bit rough in my daily yank on the parking brake. What do you guys think?
I am at 3023 miles, am going to take it in for an oil change, at the dealership of purchase, within the next week. Should I have them examine/readjust the parking brake???????
What do you guys think, I'm following your lead here....

Fed up with horrible mileage I think I should bring my car in... This has happened since I bought the car and barely got better (recently its just been decreasing). Everyone said it would get better as the cars mileage increased, right now i'm at 17,000km and this is ridiculous.
Overall the accent is rated at 7.9 L/100km city driving and 5.6 L/100km hwy.
these values (L/100km) are from the past fill-ups from end of july onward:
8.659021765 (July)
8.928571429
9.543568465
8.781318414
9.191919192
8.4474356
7.968496641
8.551307847
9.149818559
9.656652361
9.053475936
10.37104825
9.59709787 (November)
This is all half hwy and half city WTF
And before I get ridiculous explanations that it must be because I drive like mario andretti, i just drive regularly and the car normally shifts around 2,500rpm.
Any useful opinions?

Hello, I'm new to the Hyundai community and I recently picked up a 2009 Hyundai Accent GS. I've been using 93 octane and I was just wondering if this was a good idea and the pros and cons of using higher octane in my Accent.
Thank a bunch=)

I decided not to do any more engine work on the car today after a lot of thought for a long time. I'm probably still going to do the I/H/E thing now that I've decided not to do go down the TC route, but I may not even do that much. Why? Because when I realized how much I'd be putting into the car for the output I'd be getting back, I wasn't exactly thrilled. The complete and total lack of engine related aftermarket is kind of depressing, and the '09 ECUs are still uncracked stalling any potential serious engine mods anyway.
So I decided I'm going to just save up for the car I've always really, really wanted and modify it to the nines while keeping this one as my daily driver. What car would that be? A Suzuki Cappuccino. Specifically, the EA21R revision model and starting next year, I will be able to import one into Canada for the first time if I wanted to since it will meet the age limit requirements. I think this car will really suit my desire for a tiny, light vehicle that can turn heads and put out insane numbers with engine modification/swapping and better yet, since it will be a weekend car, I can take as long as I want to do my modifications and not have to worry about getting it ready for the next day to drive to work. A nice dream to shoot for would be putting the twin turbo V8 Hayabusa engine into it, officially giving the car more horsepower than weight

I'll probably die in it if I did that, but I'll have a big ol' grin on my face when I do.
But I ain't going anywhere, and I'm still going to be doing exterior/aesthetic mods. I've got a big project on the go that only one person knows about right now, and a couple on hold until I get the spare parts so I can do it. I'll still help out in the community here and do what I can to help expand the aftermarket. Who knows, maybe 5 years from now we'll actually have a decent aftermarket and I'll go ahead and mod the car anyway. But I think at this point, the Suzuki will be what I shoot for.

Has anyone made their fogs independent from their headlights? I did a search and i found the Santa Fe guys did it, but idk if the wiring is the same, etc.
http://www.hyundai-forums.com/index.php?sh...ndent+foglightsI would like to do this without buying HID fogs. I just want to upgrade to some sylvania's for now, but i see cars driving around with just the fogs and it looks awesome.
For those of you with HID kits already. How do you like the light? ANY problems yet? Where did you guys buy the kit, and how much?
I want to get an HID Kit but i dont trust anyone putting that stuff on my car, will it melt the lights or anything?

I have the default 09 Accent head unit and stereos and I'm blown away by the sound from these speakers as they are better than the default car audio speakers and units that come with other cars. Being a fan of music, I want to get more sound out of system. I am looking around for a car audio system (2 subs/1 amp combo) and I came across 2 1000 watt 15 inch MA Audio subwoofers and 1 1500 watt MA Audio amplifier with 1 capacitor. Would I need to buy anything else to hook these up in my Accent?
Where are some subs/amps you guys have that you might recommend? I am looking to spend maybe $300-400.

Well I have been looking into getting an exhaust since i read the "lunchbox delete" thread. Obviously there are none made for our type of car so i am going to have to get one custom made. I am jw how much you guys paid for yours so i dont get completely ripped off. I was honestly thinking of trying dual exhaust even though i know it wont be completely functional(laugh all you want i dont care).would this idea work?[attachment=14668:customexhuast.jpg]
i know it cant actually be centered like that but i like setup. I used the program Paint to cut and paste all that exhaust where the muffler on the right was.thats why it looks like crap. I just wanted to show that i dont want the small exhaust things there, just straight pipes. I should probably ask the exhaust people this, but i dont want them to laugh at me when i go in there. Any suggestions or comments? O and i would like to cut inlets in the bumper so it would look like the car in the picture. THANKS for the help everyone!
EDITED: so i called a custom exhaust shop and the guy told me it would be around 450$ for a dual exhaust with all the parts and bumper cutting, does that seem a little high? should i buy the exhaust that i want then just have them install it? I am also going to go to a shop thats really close to me and ask them what they think about the process. CMON DALWIN I KNOW YOU HAVE A CUSTOM EXHAUST HOW MUCH DID YOU PAY FOR IT!!!!?????

Welcome to my super awesome build thread!!!!
Update!I have managed to get my hands on the OEM Ground Effects Kit. Will post pics when installed.

2-Channel Sony Xplod Amplifier
4-Channel JVC Amplifier KS-AX4504

Radar Detector
Wheels:17'' Liquid Metal Velocity Wheels 17x7.54-100
Kumho Ecsta All-Season Tires 205/40-17
Now that all my modifications have been listed now it is time to go on with the build. See ya when I am finished!!!!
1. Front lower bars and rear anti-sway bar

2. Engine Damper

3. Drilled and slotted rotors
Front lower bars installed! Sorry, these were the only good pictures I could take. The longer one in the front took forever to install. It was so hard. But, the one in the back was quite easy. I just used a simple jack to jack up each side. It is a pretty simple install. All you have to do it take out each screw and add the bars and put it back in. You are going to need an extension. And also, for the front ones make sure you get the nut in top to stay still other wise the screw will stay in place.

And also, I purchased myself a DOMO doll for the inside of my windshield. THAT IS TOO JDM TYTE YO! I don't know why I bought it I just thought it was pretty cool/funny.

But, I will keep updating this thread as my other parts are put on. And I am ordering my headers soon.

Should I stick with the stock ~4500K Fog light color, or should I go for 3000K? It comes down to "do I want it to have a nice contrast between the fogs and headlights, or make the fog lights look kinda like the headlights (may attract less attention that way)"

First off I would like to state that this was filmed on private property with the permission from my boss (the owner).
Secondly, keep in mind I have very crappy winter tires on (cheap Hercules brand -- they suck on dry pavement)
My summer tires grip a lot better.
Thirdly, I'm not explaining the CEL, so don't ask.
Forthly, camera was hanging from the steering wheel hence the shakiness.
Lastly, I left the signal on to show timing.

I have a 2006 Accent that I am preparing to take to Fairbanks AK. I have the OEM block heater that I need to install. The instructions are unclear as to which soft plug to replace, does it matter? The one on the front drivers side looks to be the easiest to get to. The instructions that came with the thing are a joke, they don't even cover the Accent. I checked and found that I do have the correct part though. Any tips to make the job easier would also be appreciated...

Hey guys and gals.
Been away for a while but now getting back into the mix...or trying to.
Guess the state of michigan put me in a lil bit of a depression based on the fact of how screwed up the economy is.
Its not fun expecting a 3K scholarship...and not getting it...there goes some funding for my education and modifications. lol
Anyway...on a positive note...I got a chance to speak with a lot of suppliers and potential suppliers at the SEMA show.
And I am happy to say there are some, that are interested in providing support for our cars.
I have started some ties with some CF Manufacturers, aero companies, and some other "trinket" companies.
So far things are in the talk phase...and number crunching...but Im looking to move on a CF evo or similar style hood and a potential body kit (once I find a nice style)
Im welcome to anyones input on what they would like to see produced...
Some things I touched on:
CF Hood (styled)
Vent visors (the nice ones

)
Body Kit
LED Tail Lights
Headlights (even though we can black/color ourselves.

)
Pillar pods
there were some others...but it was a week in vegas and some things are blurry...lol
especially the "meeting" with the reps from a japanese molding company.
Big companies sure know how to party. lol

Hi All,
Any help from folks that have run into this prior is greatly appreicated. I did a search, but did not find anything specific to my problem.
I installed a new HID H4 Hi/Low kit from XeonDepot. Great kit, great service all around. I installed the kit following all instructions without issues. However, my headlights stay on anytime the ignition is "On" or with the engine running. In the "Off" position, the lights shut off. Very similiar, if not, like Daytime Running Lights. However, this is a US based car and the OEM bulbs/headlight configuration does not have DRL's. Switching the headlight switch on/off does not affect the headlight operation nor the light output. My parking lights still function correctly. The kit comes so there is no way to cross wires. I verified the install directly with Steve over at XeonDepot. First thing he indicated was DRL's. He also said to check the voltage at the stock female connector to verify what is coming through. I have not done that yet. The Hi/Low headlight switch functions correctly when the lights are on. I suspect if there was a polarity issue, the lights would not work at all.
Car: 2008 Accent GS 3 dr.
Any suggestions or advice, again, is greatly appreicated.
Thanks!
Mark

So this is a bit odd. Obviously, I just bought my Accent but the fuel economy i'm seeing is awfully poor, and i've been driving pretty darn sedately. Now, i'm only going through my 1st tank, but i've used 1/2 a tank and have only traveled 90 miles! So that means i'm averaging about 14 mpg in combined city and highway driving with little to no stop and go traffic and the car has never been over 3500 rpm.
Theories?

http://www.teamhyundaimalaysia.com/forum/Found them by accident. They are interested in our 3G Accents since they don't have them over there. I told them that I would tell you guys about them and maybe some of us could join up over there and vice versa. Why not exchange ideas with people around the world?
Tell them PastorK sent you and that you are from the states (or canada or wherever you are from). They have a new member introduction area. Approval takes a couple of days once you register.

Hey Guys,
I'm new to the forums but I need some opinions. I am thinking of getting wheels/rims with these specs:
Size: 17"x 7"
Bolt Pattern: Universal 4x100 and 4x114.3
Off Set: +42mm
Right now I have the 14" stock on the 2009 accent GLS 4-door.. My question is will these wheels fit on my Accent and along with the rims, would I have to buy tuner lugs, valve stems, or hub centric rings?
Also, which tires would you recommend? I was looking at 205 40 17 Durun Tires.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Last, what do you guys think about these rims (17") going on the Accent:

She has bumper to bumper 160,000 km warranty. The car has 57,000 km on it. I took it on to get it serviced, and get the faulty washer pump checked out, and they said the front tires were worn badly on the inside edges. When I made the appointment to get the washer pump replaced, they said it's a 2 1/2 hour job. I said it can't possibly take 2 1/2 hrs to replace the pump (I did mine on my matrix in the yard in 20 min.) They said the control arm bushings are gone and are going to be replaced at the same time.
Where the front tires wore badly on the inside edges, I'd say the bad bushings wore them (They were fine at the 48,000 km service). Should I b!tch a little and get them to replace the tires since the faulty bushing wore them?

What you will need...
1 Universal Spectre Breather Filter, ($6.99)
1 Box of Bypass Rubber 1/2' Caps ($3.49)
Needle Nose Plyers
10MM Socket (Or 10MM SOCKET SCREWDRIVER)
Small Flat-Head Screwdriver
_______________________________________________________________
First locate the "Breather Hose" coming from your crankcase to your intake. Take the needle nose plyers, and remove the clamp. Pull the hose housing from the inlet. Take 1 of your 2 Bypass Rubber 1/2' Caps, and place it over the inlet.
Next, take your 10MM Socket and remove the engine cover. Four bolts in total. Be careful not to lose a washer or lock washer. Follow that hose that you just removed prior to removing the engine cover, and do again, just like the last. Unlatch the clamp, and pull the hose. Now, take the smaller clamp, the one you JUST removed, and clamp it onto the inlet with the Bypass Cap on it.

Take away the hosing, but don't misplace it as its always good to keep the OEM products. Now, open your breather filter that you've been itchinngg to put on. MMMMM smell of fresh cottonnnn fiberrrr.

Take your small flat-head, and work the clamp out so it's really loose. Slap the whole unit onto the inlet on the crank case. Tighten the clamp till you can no longer tighten it. Make sure it's good n' snug. Start your car up, and let it idle for a few minutes. When your car has done so, shutttt herrrr downnnn, and put your engine cover back on.

"A crankcase breather filter is an aftermarket item, that looks like a mini pod air filter.
Everyone knows, that your engine creates a lot of internal air pressure within the engine crankcase. This is due to the rotation of the crankshaft and conrods. Also engine oil is sprayed onto and into all the moving parts, as well as underneath the pistons to keep them cool and lubricated.
In order to keep the engine operating efficiently and stop gaskets and oil seals from leaking, this excessive air pressure must be vented out of the engine... the crankcase breathing system does this. It vents these hot pressurized gases, which also contain oil vapor.
The manufactures simply provide a rubber hose from the top of the engine into your air intake system, so your engine sucks in these hot gases and oil vapors and burns them within the normal combustion process.
Obviously, it occurs to some, that sucking hot oil contaminated air through you air intake system is probably not the best thing for keeping your intake runners and swirl valves clean, and your air intake charge as cool as possible.
Thus the fitting of a crankcase breather filter, that allow the engine to vent hot gases and keep the crankcase pressures balanced with the pressure outside of the engine (normal atmospheric pressure). The filter will also stop oil vapor from leaving your engine.
There are NO proven horsepower gains using a crankcase breather, but it does provide benefits for your engine as mentioned above. A nice cosmetic touch to your engine bay as well as keeping it cleaner.
The crankcase breather filters will last 25,000 to 40,000 miles before needing cleaning (same procedure as an Air Filter) or simply throw them away and replace with a new one." -

Hey Gang,
I have an '09 hatch and a few months into owning it (10k miles) the radio went out. It worked the night before, but nothing in the morning. Looks like it is working, but no sound. So I finally got to the dealer to have it replaced. No big problem, right?
But 3 days after I got the car back, the radio went out in the same way! And the next morning it worked again, olny to go out again on my ride home. Works again this morning... we'll see if it goes out again. The dealer says he has ordered me another new radio, but WTF?
Has anyone else had problems with the stock accent radio? I don't even play it very loud... guess I'm getting old!
