Hey Hi everyone sorry I have some bad news. My 2002 matrix from Singapore just started giving some transmission problems. It happens when the engine is cold. The car has trouble going into gear and then the check engine light comes on but when the car gets hot and we all know how fast that happens the problem seems to go away. Well any way I had it checked and they told me that I may have to do some re wiring from the trans to the engine (WHAT..........?) and off course change the trans oil. I was told to get diamond sp III but no luck. I had to get Castrol aps+4 instead. Does anyone out there have or had the same problems. Please let me know what you did to have the problem fixed. I hear the trans on these cars give problems after the first 3 years........

My ride seems to produced a weird braking sound from the back. (rear wheel) kindda 'thuck..thuck' sound!. It happened most of the time when I pressed the brake to stop the car.

It can be described like putting a stick between the rims. untill today, I still can't find the source. Anyone experienced this b4?

I own Matrix 3 yrs ago.The car is having many cool features,like leather seats,steering wheel, woodlike finishings on the console and doors.
The gas goes well around bends without understeering.
i havedrive so many cars before but this is the best car among them.

when I turn my Air condition on , only the condenser fan is expected to be on , but I noticed that the two fans go on , and they go off again after I turn the air condition off , more over , when the coolant temperature increases , I notice that the two fans also go on and as expected that only the coolant fan should go on .. why do you think the two fans always go on together in both cases ?
Is there any thing I can DIY ?

has anyone encountered check engine light turning on with their matrix before.

today the check engine light on my car light up again. this is the 4th time it happened since i got the car in oct 2003. There is no loss of power or drive. just feels like the engine is slightly rougher, but not by a lot, could be my imagination!

reason i got from service centre in the past 3 times:
1) ECU connector lose
2) O2 sensor faulty (apparantly there is 2 O2 sensor in matrix, both have been changed before)

just curious if it is happening only to me or has anyone encountered too.

i am using SPC 92 petrol, but i doubt that is the cause as the manual states that any grade above 91 is ok (i think).

just have to send in and see what they say tomorrow.

Problem: I changed from winter-tires to allround-tires today and noticed a small yet irritating whining sound when I use gear 4 and hits the gas-pedal. It immediatley stops when I lift my foot from the pedal and starts when I push it again.

I don't think it's serious in anyway, but I really want to know what it can be.

Anyone? All suggestions are welcome.

I have a 1.6 Matrix. I had some problems with my transmission which was repaired, but now the engine check light keeps coming on.
I am now getting two error codes on transmission. Code 001 P0740 Torque Con. Clutch Mal. and P2254 (27,90,22,54) Please refer to relevant technical manual. Anyone have any ideas. The repir man is giving me some run around. He does not know what these codes mean.

do we have engine check light in our dash board of our matrix ?!!
As far as I know that the Engine check light should come on when the key is turned to the ON position and should go off as soon as the engine starts ... I don't have this check light going on at any time as if it isn't there !!! I tried to remove the oxygen sensor power cord and I expected that the light should come on now but it didn't at all .... iam so confused ... is our baby unequipped with the yellow check light ? !!!!

As some of you know , Iam from egypt and I have a 2005 1.6 manual matrix , trim: LT , its mileage now is 35000 km ....
I had a bad frontal collision and i had to change alot of parts , hood , front bumber condenser fan , radiator , etc ...
lets get straight to the point ... I had to change the air conditioning condenser that is in front of the radiator ( as far as I know that its name is condenser , this thing that looks like the radiator but contains the cooling element (fereon) ) , any way , I was surprised when the salesman for the spare parts in hyundai service center told me that they have two types of condensers for that model of matrix , one of them has the part no. ends with 17000 ( the old one ) , and the other one is the new one with the part no. 17001 , he told me that they have the two condensers and that I have to choose one , considering that there is about 30 US dollars difference between the price of the old and the new one .... Any way I bought the new one ( 17001 ) but my question is that does any one know what could be the difference between the two parts ? and howcome that the two parts are present and I can choose whatever I want without knowing the difference ?

Any body got design to make up my matrix 1.6 ..Auto..Need to make it look smarter and gorgeous...

i went to komoco eunos service centre to check whether i can send my one-year-old matrix for 3rd party servicing. The counter guy showed me their leaflet details the various car servicing packages. It has a clause:

"The warranty on your vehicle is conditional upon the vehicle having a Complete Service History with Komoco Motors Pte Ltd. Any remedial works during the warranty period not performed at a komoco service centre may disqualify the vehicle for warranty claims from our principal."

he highlighted that clause to me.

In my opinion, since this is just a leaflet, it's not legal binding. It's matter whether the sales agreement or other documents we signed has this similar clause or komoco has informed us officially.

my question is : have you serviced ur car by 3rd party when it's under warranty, if so, have you got into any problem komoco refusing the warranty repair because you have serviced your car by 3rd party?

Was considering getting Solar Film from a few dealers, namely V-Kool, Nanolux, Cool&Ride and more.

I understand V-Kool & Nanolux supplied metallic films while e rest is chemical films.

Some told me metallic one better, but nid to cut a hole in e ERP while chemical one dun nid.

Some told me chemical one will wear-out or discoloured after a few years.

Pricing-wise, I'm pretty ok with any dealers, so long me & my family can enjoy driving with minimum heat.

Please advice which brand all matrixmanias' using.

guys i need yr help..my coin box on left side and my aircon is loose. when i sent my car to komoco for servicing.the guy there found out that one for the brackets
inside the aircon box already damage...it will cost me abt 2 to 3 hundreds dollars to change the whole thing...so guys do u have place in singapore that can fixed my coin box and aircon set brackets half of the price....thanks..

I have an 2005 1.6 manual hyundai matrix with 33,000 km mileage , I noticed that just when the radiator fan turns ON , the RPM gets a little bit higher , you might say its around 700-800 rpm without the fan turned ON , and 900 rpm With it ON , and I feel a great loss in the engine power and pick up , and when it goes off again .. every thing returns to normal operation ... can any body help me ?

I have a problem that I can't solve. There is a strange noise in my car ever since I bought it . The tablou area near the meters makes a faint sound like when u have plastic vibrating . If i put my mobile on that area or anything heavy it stops. I sent the car for service 2 times and each time they say it is solved but it is not. The reason they said is that the A/C wiring and the meter wiring were too close and that they set them apart , but the sound is still there. Any Ideas???

hi all.I'm thinking of buying a used 1.5 diesel matrix to go with my 1.3 petrol getz.can anyone tell me of any horror stories that they know of with this model or weak spots to look out for. well impressed so far with my getz apart from the (what I feel) below average fuel consumption. would be interested in any matrix owners opinions as to whether the 1.5 diesel is good on the fuel or not. getting rid of a 2002 1.8vvti toyota avensis which has been the biggest heap of sh**e I've ever had the misfortune of owning........any advice would be appreciated.thanks.......

I bought a 1.6 Matrix (2006) about 1 year ago. so far it ahs run about 16000 Km. I had several problems with the car. first, the brakes made a sound like two metal pieces hitting each other when depressing the pedal. This was alomost solved by the dealer; I mean it still happens but not frequently and the sound is lower. Second, the reverse position of the gear was hard to engaged. This also was, again almost, solved by the dealer. They increased the level of the cluch pedal or something like that. However still there is a problem with the gear. I find it difficult when I disengage the gear from the 1st position to the 2nd or neutral. Third, and what is more important to me, the engine has higher sound when running in the range of 1500-1800 rpm. The sound is the same as what one hears at cold start. The sound disappears below and above this range and the engine is very smooth. When the speed goes down from above that range to the idle speed, around 800 rpm, the sound again appears when the the speed passes that range and then disappears. The dealer doesn't admit this problem. Any suggestions?

Anyone know where can i get the Chrome door panel for Matrix

Wife just got in from visiting in-laws to tell me that she put the passenger window down on our Matrix and now the thing is open and refuses to come up. The window lock isn't active as I can turn it on and off and use the rear windows with no problems. On the off-chance it might have been the fuse, which it wouldn't be as one fuse handles all the windows it would seem, I switched the fuse for another of the same kind. Nothing. Clutching at straws, I even reset the alarm/immobiliser/remote central locking. Again nothing. I'm now going to have to clear the garage to get the **** car in out of the elements as this has happened out of hours and there's no local service available til Monday at the earliest. Is there a manual override for this thing or am I simply going to have to wait until Monday?

I have been driving my Matrix 1.8 for abt 2mnth.
For 40 to 45 liter, I manage to get abt 330-340km, both City and highway driving.
I have also try to follow the advise of other matrix user in this forum abt acceleration at traffic lights. I want to know if other matrix 1.8 driver can clock more mileage?

does anyone know why the Spark timing retards when the AC is turned on,
with the AC off its around 7-8 degrees,
I see that it drops 5-6 degrees when turned on does anyone have an explaination for this ?
I know that the more advance it has the better it runs thats for sure !

also whats the Earthing kit that I hear mentioned is there an issue with Grounding or power supply that needs to be addressed ?

My warranty will end in a few days after putting in 35,000 kilometers on my Matrix GL AT and I am not happy with the cooling performance of my airconditioner and the servicing done by my dealer.

2 years into the warranty my airconditioner was not putting out the normal blast of cold air so I brought it in for a check up. The dealer changed the filter located behind the glove box and that seemed to fix it. Now less than one year into that filter, I complained about a whining sound at high setting which my dealer claimed to have remedied with another A/C filter. I found this unusual as my original filter lasted longer. Add to that the cooling was reduced considerably and there is still a whining sound at high speed (No. 4) setting with the outside vent open.

Airflow seems normal but not cooling. I know that summer in the Philippines is horrendous with temperatures hitting 34 degrees lately but I can sense a reduction in cooling performance. My Getz 1.1 and my brother's Toyota Corolla are better at cooling under the same conditions.

I cannot check on refrigerant level since there is no sight glass in the A/C system.

Anybody with a similar experience and recommendations?

When spark plugs become old and needs to be replaced , can these spark plugs affect negatively on the fuel consumption ? my cars mileage is 26000 km and iam expected to replace the spark plugs for the first time at the 30000 km service and I noticed an increase in fuel consumption ...

I own a Matrix Diesel CRDi, about two months ago I started having problems starting the car. They had a look at it and concluded that the glowplugs were not working, at least not all of them. I had them replaced but it still does'nt start like it used too.
The mechanic told me I had to have the engine overhauhled, the reason was when he removed the dipstick for the oil level it started spitting oil which meant high backpressure.
The car has driven 32000 km and was bought april of 2004.
I can't imagine a diesel engine that normally runs 150000 to 200000 km without an overhaul that this one has to be overhauled with only 30000 km. Anybody any suggestions on this. The car drives great, is very comfortable and spacious.

My question is about a 2001 Matrix 1.6i GLS. In my dashboard, the warning light of the fuel level is not working anymore. I want to replace it, but have no idea how to remove the console from the dashboard, to be able to exchange the light...
Does anyone of you have an idea how to reach these light bulbs????

Some Matrix owners, they use Tucson's back door rain brush to replace Matrix's. The Tucson's is more good look than Matrix's original back door rain brush.hehe.
