It takes as long as 30 minutes for my cars outside temperature read-out to match the external temperature. It adjusts very slowly. I cannot get an explanation. I read, in a few forums, that it is designed this way, as to not read the engine compartment temperature, and others say it must be defective. Please respond to this message, if you have any knowledge of the outside temperature sensor on a Hyundai. Thanks.

yeah mine is off too, and I keep meaning to get the tech's to look at it and keep forgetting. I had always noticed a difference last year when it was inside most of the time, this year I have been leaving it out and noticed it is still off. Will try to get this looked at next week and let you know what we find.

Yep,
I talked to the service rep about my 2008 Tib and found that the guage sensor "factory" could be defective. He stated to simply bring it in and they would replace the sensor. I will let you all know when I have that done.

I took the car to the dealer and they said nothing wrong with it but, ever since they looked at it the temp works faster

Howdy,

My 08 SE work great. It seems to quickly adjust so there may be an issue in some cars. I do like the feature though... when you're hot... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/whistling.gif)

My 08 Tibby has had this problem since it was new. The sensor has been replaced twice and the processor also twice. The problem has not changed. Today, the service manager at my dealer said he contacted Hyundai and was told that this is normal. To get the gauge to read correctly, I must turn the ignition "on" and wait for the gauge to read, then start the engine and all will be ok. So far I've done it this way twice and it HAS worked. We'll see what happens in the morning.

I purchased a 08 Tibby SE brand new on July 18th and I also have issues with the outside temp gauge. The dealership on August 19th replaced it, and it worked for about a week then has gone no where. I brought it back in on September 21st where they checked for the connections and sent me on my way.
The problem is whele the car is sitting around it is not picking up the most current temp that is going on. Take for instance on Monday I got to work and the gauge read 37, when i left 9 hours later it still read 37, temp outside was in the lower 70's. Yesterday i registered 44 degrees when i hit my parking garage nad 9 hours later it still read 44 degrees when it was lower 80's here in Denver.
It takes me at least 30 minutes to get home and thet temp is no where near the outside temp, plus it does not move when you are sitting at a light, or traffic
I am going back to the dealer on 10/19 and they will keep the car there for a couple of days.

it's the same thing on my '07. I've kinda learned to ignore it lol. It's a nice little gadget to tbh it isn't really a necessity so I didn't mention it when I get my car serviced. It seems to be able to pick up the correct reading quite nicely once you're on the highway though.

It's been two weeks since my dealer told me about waiting for the indicator to reset before starting the engine and the indicator has worked properly EVERY time. Apparently he was right.

Just turn the ignition "on", wait until the indicator goes from ---- to the temperature, and then start the engine. If you don't wait, the gauge will read the last temperature from before you last turned the engine "off" and then it will only change about one degree per minute.

Well booneyed is correct because for the last close to two weeks I will get in my car after work, turn the key over to ignition and wait a few seconds and then the proper temp. of the parking garage is there. If you just turn the car directly on, the last temp will be shown as booneyed said
Thanks!

Hello!, I have a GT V6, '08, but run over a dog and lost the outside temperature sensor and the dust guard of the radiator, in other words, the thermometer, and the engine dustguard... Can any body find them for me? at least the serial numbers/part number to order them by mail or by a friend that is going to the states soon... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/liebe011.gif)
