Doe anyone know if I can change the disc pads on the rear callipers?
the brake system has an auto handbrake when on a hill for a smooth start (yes, I can use the hand brake for that) but do I need any more than a rear calliper piston rewind kit? or do I need a computer in the agents garage?

Please help

Thanks Scotty, that's some help but I have already bought the tool. on the front ones I normally use a G clamp but assumed that the handbrake operates a lever and self adjusting screw inside the caliper piston. As I have done in the past the rear caliper piston has to be screwed back in but someone mentioned about the computer control on the auto handbrake for hill start and that sent me into overload.
I have done the brakes on the Getz and they were no problem because the hand brake operates a drum brake.
will let you know how I get on when the weather breaks.

Found a wee video on youtube showing how to replace pads & discs on an i40 with electric parking brake. I'm sure the same steps will apply to the i30. I noticed that it didn't show pressing/winding the caliper piston back. I'm pretty sure you will need to do that but they seemed to have missed that step in the video.

Just an update folks.

I only needed to rewind the pistons by hand, no computer needed so replaced both discs and pads and made sure the handbrake cable was free. the agents would not do anything about the free play in the lever on the right hand caliper because she has done more than 60K

thanks for all the help again, Tony

Yeah, you figured it out before I saw this thread. The fronts can be compressed with a "C" clamp, the rears are rotated back in. Harbor Freight used to carry this tool at a reasonable price. I think I paid $2.95 with a coupon. Now they are around $10-$12. It is called a brake cube socket, or something like that.
