My daughter has problem with the central locking. At first it was intermittent but is now more regular(except when at the dealer). When she approaches the car with her remote, the side mirror starts to open and without pressing the remote button or the handle button, the doors unlock. However then they immediately lock, the mirror starts to close and the sequence carries on until she moves away with the remote. At the moment she has to leave the remote some distance away, use the key, open the door and then fetch the remote. The other method, if she is quick enough is to pull the handle exactly when the door unlocks.

The plot thickens. A few days ago the folding of the mirrors stopped working. Fortunately they were in the "folded out" mode. However since then the door locking/ unlocking problems seems to have stopped. I have not checked to see if there is a blown fuse, as I want to see if the locking fault is somehow related to the mirror feed. My "gut" feeling has always been that there is a short between wires, possibly where they are bunched together when leaving the door and entering the body. My other thought is that it is linked to one of the motors that fold the mirrors that when it is in a certain position opening the mirror there is a fault(maybe wire shorted to handle lock/unlock button wire) which then unlocks the door. As the motor turns a full revolution it reaches the same fault position which then shorts and locks the door, causing the mirror to fold. The sequence then continues.

After several visits to the dealer the problem has been solved. Having never seen this problem before they started by changing the keyless entry remote. My view was that it was unlikely as both original remotes had the same effect. When we went to collect the car the workshop representative said that changing the remotes had solved the problem. As we approached the car, the same locking saga continued. The look on his face was priceless. They then decided to keep the car and gave my daughter a loan car. After 3 days they said that the problem had been solved. She had had a slight accident and the drivers door had been damaged. According to them the panelbeater had sprayed some paint onto a wiring connector and the paint had shorted out some pins. They could not explain why there were period when the problem did not happen but they did not charged us for the repair, so I did not press them to hard. I did find it strange that they would do the work under warranty if it was not their problem. Anyway at least, for now , the problem seems to have been resolved
