Possible problem....check your wheels..

After having the front wheels re balance after the osf threw a weight, ifound that the clip on weights are damaging the paint/lacquer.

then i looked around and found damage to all the wheels.

:frown::frown::frown::frown::frown::frown::frown:
looks like a trip to my dealer to 'nip this in the bud' once salt and water get under the lacquer it will soon look tatty.

I couldn't agree more. This does seem like a very odd thing that Hyundai have done, using clip on balance weights. They surely must have known this was going to cause damage to the laquer? I recently had a set of alloy wheels completely refurbished, the same company refitting the tyres once they were done. They used stick on weights without any issues. This will have an impact on me as an owner because I'll be swapping the summer tyres presently fitted, to winter tyres in November, but the dealership will be doing the tyre swap, so they'll see what the issue is when they do the tyre swap.

It will be interesting to know what your dealership says about this......keep us informed!

i rang the dealer back after 2 weeks as they said to.. but its holiday season so
nothing has been done, said i will call back in 2 weeks which is this weekend , if nothing has been done, i'm going to kick off.
the gear change is slowly getting worse and trouble find reverse is also a pain.

not impressed to be honest with these faults in a car that is just 13 months old,

i'll give it another go at the dealers if not the car will be gone.:mad:

Ok, my dealer has now informed me that 4 new alloys have been ordered and should be with them shortly,.
as for the gear change crunching etc, they will look into it when the wheels are fitted. he says there may be some adjustment..not sure my self.
Any way, we have decided the get the gear box and wheels sorted then the i10 gone.., time to move on.

so if anyone is interested in the car contact me.

try again in a few weeks....
my dealer has been spot on, he even managed to get brand new wheels not refurbished ones...
i just pointed out the rusty weights and lacquer flaking damaging the wheel paint.
the car is in today for the new wheels to be fitted, gear box check and rattling/ vibrating dashboard. i'm away all weekend so picking it up Tuesday.

oh and they are fitting the new 'stick on weights'

Just back from leaving the car at the dealers, we were/are all set to swap cars soon, but looking around at what you get for your money, £4£ the i10 is taking some beating.
the alfa mito looks the part but is starting to look dated and its an alfa...
just hope they sort the gear box out on the i10..

well.. the new wheels are fitted , all ok , the dealer adjusted the clutch to see if it makes any difference to the gear change- no, it crunched as soon as we left the forecourt..they didn't do anything regarding the rattle nor the off center steering wheel.
so another trip to the dealer..
