Right so I bought a brand new 1.2se in October and the car came as standard with the continental Eco contacts 5 in 175/65/r/14/t-xl. So last week I had a puncture and you would not believe how hard it was to get this exact tyre! I was told that the car required so rated tyres for a reason and that is why the car was factory fitted with them. I had to pay £75 for this one tyre. Anybody else experience with this issue or knows why the tyres have to be do rated?
No sure why the i10 would need XL tyres but if you want good value then I've used this company twice. Buy 175 65 r14 Tyres Cheap with a Price Promise Guarantee, good range of brands & prices but it's a shame they use National Tyres to fit them I'm not a big of them. There's a also a 5% off code on the site too.
I had to replace a tyre on my 1.0 Premium and had the same trouble as you finding an exact replacement. In the end my local tyre fitters (the one my Hyundai dealership recommended) had to order one direct from Continental which took a couple of days. Only cost £54 including fitting though so you might have been ripped off a bit!
Where was that bought from Steve? I see I got overcharged slightly but I was desperate as driving on the space saver was not pleasant!! Does anybody know why the i10 comes as standard with "XL" rated tyres though? I've heard it's something to do with the cars weight. But I mean it's an i10, surely it is not that heavy?
Hi if anyone needs a set of 4 part worn tyres ( Eco contacts 5 in 175/65/r/14/t-xl) - I took them off my new gen 1.2 premium to fit all season tyres. Done 3233 miles on them and no punctures or repairs about 7 mm tread still left ( will double check)
Will be putting them on a well known popular auction site sometime in near future

I have a 2010 i10 and it comes with 165 60 R14 Khumo KH17 tyres. I am going to change them and I am considering Falken SN832 tyres. In that exact size, there is only XL rated tyre. So I think that an i10 don't need XL rated tyres but maybe the continental ecocontact 5 only exist in XL (I just verified, they exist without XL rating)
