Keyless entry or car battery?

I posted a question on this and never got an answer. My keyless entry does light up but doesn't unlock the doors. I have a 2006 Elantra.
I got into the car with my key, and turned the key, no noise, nothing, would not start.
My friend came to jump the car, the alarm starting going off.
Her car was hooked up to mine for atleast 10 min.
When I tried to start it, still nothing, but the headlights worked, and it was dinging because I had to leave my door open to hear her, so everything else worked, but still not a sound from the battery.
How do I tell if it is the battery in the keyless entry or the car battery?
The car has run great every day, it seems like it has been disabled by the alarm system, as that kept going off. Thankyou for any help

People on this forum are pretty good about posting if they have any helpful information to offer, so I don't think posting twice is necessary. On my 2008 elantra, I once had a completely dead battery because the trunk had popped open and the trunk light drained the battery. The car wouldn't unlock with the fob, and after getting into it with the key, it obviously wouldn't start. But I think you have something different going on. You are getting lights, alarm and other signs that the battery has a charge. Also you tried a jump start without success. So I think you have some type of electrical issue. You could check all the fuses and breakers. On my Elantra, there are fuses both in the interior of the car and under the hood. If you can't find a bad fuse or tripped breaker, I think your next step is to have the car towed to a dealer for some diagnosis.

Thankyou for your answer. It was my battery!
I forgot that nothing came on at first, only after it was charged for a bit did the lights and the dinging start with the door open.
My other friend came out and charged it for a bit, it still wouldn't start, he called his friend, the friend said to now use the keyless entry to unlock all the doors, he did, got in and it started right up!
Having keyless entry is all new to me, and the alarm going off too, but I now atleast know a little more about these. Thanks again
