I am new in this forum. I just bought new xg30 1999 with 62000 KM. I am having following problems,

When I turn AC on in Neutral or Parking, RPM are fine but as I shift Drive or Reverse then engine starts shaking and RPM dance between 400 to 900 and it seems like engine will turn off. But if I again shift to Neutral or Parking it will come again to normal.

Miss fire happens most of the time when I drive from stop and even at higher speed. It seems like I can not even get high RPM properly putting paddle downwards and also engine has lack of power. But some times it is just normal and drive smoothly. (AC problem exists)

Misfire also happens above 3000 rpm. Its kind of like cutting fuel supply to engine.

Check Engine Light is not on.

I will appreciate help.

Thanks

Hi there

Can anybody help me out regarding the problem I have written above. Please suggest according to your experience what shall I do and what should be inspect accordingly.

Well I have found out the pressure leakage at 1st and 3rd fuel injectors. O-Rings were damage. Change them but still rough idle. Small Vacuum pipe going out of front injector line to the relay attached after to it always clicks randomly as I give accelerator. Do not know if it is normal or some defect.

Thanks

Update from today!!

First of all I feel nobody here is to help as I did not get any reply or seggestions. Moderator and Admisitrator could suggest something to check according to their experience.

Well today I took MAF connector off and I saw rpm is very smooth and it even goes to 7000 very smoothly and this relay (connected to the vacuum pipe coming out of fuel injectors) does not clicks randomly. No misfire at all. As I put MAF connector again on problem came back. Engine stall, misfire happened and rpm does not go up smoothly and if it does engine stall in between and this relay again click randomly.

I do not have check engine light on even when I took the MAF connector off. I never saw it on even if I turn ignition on. I do not know if it is out of order or it never turn on until you have problem.

Could any one please suggest me if it is MAF sensor not working properly or what could be a problem.
Tomorrow have a pollution test. Do I have to take it before this problem is fixed or first fix it and take a test.

I would highly appreciate help of you guys and thanks to you all in advance.

firstly you must remember that you will not always get an instant reply to your posts. it would depend on when members that have the knowledge to answer your questions are on-line. sometimes you maybe lucky but other times you may have to wait several days. also bear in mind that members may not be able to answer your question.

however to your other point. it does from what you say sound like you are having trouble with the MAF. if this becomes faulty it does not normally trigger the CEL (as in your case)

if you are going to take your car for an inspection l would keep the MAF plugged in for now but it does look like you will need a new one

l hope this answers your question

Thank you very much for your answer.

But is it normal if you turn your ignition on check engine light does not come on. Because in my case i never see it on.

What is this relay which act strange and start click randomly upon connecting the MAP connector. It does also when I turn on A/C .

I just want to make sure that this is problem with MAF sensor and do not want to spend money around as the previous owner has to changing the ECU, Alternator, Battery etc.

Could you please suggest something esle to check to make sure this problem is with MAF sensor?

Well I would say thanks to all of you making and arranging this forum. It saved us lot of money and headache upon your experience with this very complicated electronics structure of xg's.

your CEL should come on when you turn on the ignition. you have a problem there (it might just be the bulb broken)

under the circumstances l would strongly suggest you have any possible fault codes read with a scanner. (if your CEL is not working you have no way of knowing if you have any faults)

you suprise me when you say that the last owner had to have the ECU changed. l have never heard of anyone having to change the ECU on a XG (alternator and battery are common)

BTW the clicking that you can hear is normal.

again, best get the codes read before you spend anymore money

Well I have got the bills from last owner and the garage who has checked with GDS got following code P0743

I do not know what this code is actually for.

I can read the following, TCM Defect must change ( This all bill and diagnose written in German)

and something written they checked lot of wires as there were not proper communication between torque converter clutch and TCM

Motor-Steuergerät (ECU) changed ( Part No. 39110 39168).

I am surprised too and I do not think if it was the right problem to change the ECU. What you suggest what is this code P0743 for?

If they just did it and code does not refer to this I would talk to them as I got it all in written and they charged like 2600.- swiss franks.

About this clicks from relay, is it some kind of vacuum adjuster from the fuel injectors?

Thanks

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
  • Using a Hi-Scan Pro, check for DTC in both the "Engine" and "Automatic Transaxle" menus. Record the DTC and description
    .
  • Disconnect the connectors between the solenoid and TCM. Check for bent pins or pins not fully inserted in the connector. Repair as necessary. NOTEClean connector pins with a contact cleaner listed below, or equivalent:

    • Permatex Electrical Contact Cleaner, P/N 24379 or equivalent.
  • Check the wiring harness between the TCM and transaxle for a damaged wire or a short circuit to ground. If so, repair or replace the ECM control harness, P/N 914XX-XXXXX.
  • Check the harness inside the transaxle oil pan for a short circuit to ground. Replace the harness if damage is found or if three or more solenoid DTC are found in Step 1. (Refer to TSB# 02-40-009 for instructions). MODELHARNESS P/NSonata, Elantra, Santa Fe, Tiburon

Dear montego

Thanks for your kind and detailed reply. TCM has been replaced or repaired from last owner with the code PO 743 shown on the bill.

As I can feel my CEL has been disconnected or bulb is not working fine first I have to make it working and see if CEL is on. If yes I would bring it to have the all codes read.

My only problem at the moment,

[b]MAF connector attached (lake of power in Engine, misfire, engine stalls, etc) and automatic confused sometimes between 3 to 4 and 4 to 5.
MAF connector disattached, (no misfire, rpm goes up till 7000 without any problem)

I am still not sure if this is the problem is with MAF or something esle could be. How I can be make sure with the MAF before to replace it as it costs 500 CHF. Is there any other mathoed to check it?

Well I had yesterday my anti polution test and it was all fine.

I will soon update with codes if there are any in ECU.¨

Inbetween any solution or check with MAF?

Thanks
