Has anyone removed the centre console from a hyundai getz.
I have removed the 10mm bolt from the drivers side foot well and also the other 10mm bolt from the rear cup holder space which is located between the drivers and passengers seat, and at the front of the rear seats.
Any info would be greatly appreciated as I do not own a workshop manual for this car.

There is a "stift" (white plastic bolt) holding the thing on the right foot well. You havet to pull upwards everything together and the white "stift" will go out from the bottom.

Then u have to remove the plastic around the cigarette lighter and aux power hole. The easiest way to do this is to reach to it from the back (not a lot of space there, but you'll manage) and push it out towards the rear.

U also have to pull the handbrake upwards as far as it goes and remove the plastic that is underneath the handbrake handle. Then pull the whole console towards rear and lift the front and over the handbrake.

It is not that simple but once you get it figured out it is quite simple.

I worked it out yesterday and what you said is pretty much right. thanks.

The cigerette lighter has a white ring around it that looks like it should light up when the parking or headlights are activated, but it does not, also the knob that moves from fresh air and recirculated air looks like it should light up as well but it does not. (all the other knobe light up :whistling)
Does anyone know if this should light up on a late 2005 model 1.6 getz auto 3 door, the car was bought brand new and has only 2,500 km's on it,
Thanks in advance.

I noticed that too but no, it doesn't light in my car either. I have a F/L 2006 1.6 Getz Man and it doesnt. If u figure out how to light that I would be very grateful for all the info.

I managed to light up the cigarette lighter. It was really easy. I just fitted a 1,2W 12V small bulb on the top of the seethrough plastic ring and that was it. I powered it through the connector and now it shines. I will post pictures when I have time to take them.

I was thinking to do it even more "professionaly". Tiburon has a very similar lighter and I am going to get that one from a tiburon and buld it in my Getz. It will be even better I think.

Oh and I also put a pair of lights to light the space where the pedals and passanger's feet are when you open the door. It looks really nice, because I used normal lights (same as on the roof) so they match in colour. Will post pictures.

I think you already saw this one: :P Click here!

Now for the cigarette lighter: I managed to get a more even light with some aluminium reflective sticking foil but I still don't like that it is not perfectly even. And I must get an original lamp colour so it will match with all the other interior lights. Anyone has an idea where in the dash there are similar lights?

Oh, the picture. Here:
