Our 9 year old Getz 1.1 began misfiring, especially when driving uphill, and stalling when idling/decelerating and then sometimes having trouble getting going again.
Diagnostics pointed to a misfire on cylinder 4 and a suggestion to replace the coil pack. My local garage did this twice but the problem remained. They changed the leads and checked the plugs (which were replaced a year ago), to no avail. Diagnostics were still showing coil problem.
Stumped, they took it to the local Hyundai garage. They replaced the crank shaft sensor, but the problem remains and the diagnostics are still showing the coil.
Now they are saying that they do not know what the problem is and further investigation will come at more cost. It has already cost several hundred pounds and we are still left with an undriveable car. One suggestion is to get a genuine Hyundai coil, as my local garage used generic ones, but this could just be throwing more money at it and may not resolve the problem.
Anyone got any suggestions? The car has less than 60,000 miles on it and we don't want to write it off if at all possible. :crying2:
