New here, have a question about MK1 Getz (first generation).
I have a couple of questions:
1) How do you remove the center console part of the where the radio sits? No where the handbrake and gear shifter is, but where your radio, ac etc sits.
2) I have one of these facias installed, which has a 1 din installed, and the other half is like a pocket to put stuff in.
Can anyone explain how can i take all that out, so i can install a modern double din DVD inside?
Has any one tried doing this.
I am trying to install 2din unit to my getz right hand drive.
I want to know what kind of installation kit I need to get before I start.
I would take it to an expert/ICE supplier and pick their brains. ask what units and kits and get them to quote you and then do it yourself. I don't understand the tech din or double din.
the centre console is not too hard to remove but is also held by the original radio mount with a bolt in the centre behind the radio. watch out for the heating controls as well, they need to be disconnected from the floor in the drivers side well and behind the glove box. just take your time and once all the screws are out its just a matter of pulling hard towards the rear of the car but take note of the direction it holds back because it is all just pushed into locking clips which are strong enough to break the pegs.
good luck
Buy a double din facia to suit from eBay. Cheap and available in black or silver.
Just make sure to get the right style (hint: look at the hazard light button, square for first gen, round for second and match with the facia you are buying.)
And make sure it's from a car with the steering wheel on the same side of the car as yours.
