Hi Dear All,

This is my first post.
I have Getz GLS 2008 Model.

Car had done about 400 km in last two months.
Then was parked for 48 hours.

Wont start after that & panel lights were very dim.
Battery voltage had gone down to 6 volts !

Got the car jump started. Drove about 10 km.
Disconnected battery for the night.
Next day drove 20 km.
Battery checked out ok 12.7 volts.

Checked for key off parasitic battery current drain. was less than 10 mA.
Car is running fine now.
What caused the sudden battery discharge.

Request valuable inputs.

Thanks.
ARD.

Hey there is just that the car was sitting to much every car has about 3 - 7 + miliamp draw per hour then when you crank engine there's about 400 + cranking amp draw its just bad all over .

And an aternator will not charge a battery in 10 mins
You need to drive 1hour + at 100 k to properly give it a good deep charge

Hello Roy J & Iana.

Thank you very much for your inputs.

I had been outstation & drove the car more than 300 km.

Late evening, Battery terminal voltage after engine switch off was 12.7 volts.
However, next morning the voltage had reduced to 12.25 volts !

There is definitely key off parasitic current leakage, some circuit is loading .
Your valuable suggestions for troubleshooting the snag are welcome.

Thanks.

ARD.

how old is the battery? anything over 4 years on these cars and your pretty much staring down the barrel !!! you need to do a load test on it by FULLY charging the battery (like overnight) then have someone read a multi-meter connected to the battery while you start it. if the battery voltage falls below 9.6 volts, its failed the test, get a new one!

you still haven't said how old the battery is, and driving it 300k will charge it but wont fully charge it... an alternator is no substitute for a battery charger! you need to FULLY charge the battery and do a load test, or get it done for you.
Batteries are just like us, they deteriorate with age!
