Sugar, i wish i hadn't bothered cleaning the car this am....just knocked the wire aerial off the roof. It's broken off just after where the wire goes into the alloy housing. Any ideas on how it comes apart? Can i replace parts from the outside, or is headlining going to have to come out and fix from inside the cabin? Cheers for any info, Kev.
Hi Kev, the aerial typically screws into the roof housing.
Try using pliers if a bit is still sticking out, otherwise you will need to use a drill and screw-extractor to remove the broken bit,
good luck I had the same thing happen and this worked
for me.
The aerial can get "got to" by opening up a bit of the roof lining on the car. You will only need a screwdriver to take off the internal mirrors.
The aerial is in two parts (the actual aerial that connects to a housing). Being inside your car you can un-clip the connection and make a replacement. About a 10 minute job.
I had to replace mine at the end of last year (first thing that I had to do to the car when I bought it second hand as I wanted to be able to listen to AM radio bands). The job wasn't as bad as I expected.
From memory: the two parts for the aerial were the same price. Both approx $30AUD each. So, it was $60 for both parts and I was able to fit them myself. I bought the replacement aerial as genuine parts for Hyundai. It is a bit of a flimsy extra long aerial compared with some other cars so, I hope that it doesn't snap again.
