Getz water leak issue

Hi everyone,

I seem to be having a problem with my Getz.

The floor upholstery under the pedals is wet - simple as that. This has been happening for years. I've been to two certified Hyundai services (?) and neither had the idea of how to solve it.

One service said that they had no idea what's the problem, while the other service actually tried to see where it was coming from so they poured water all over the car repeatedly. No results. They thought they solved it (said it was probably a cable/sling wire behind the hood opener).

I then went and tried to see if that was indeed the case, put some newspapers there, washed the car, nothing. But then, a few days later, I lift up the mat and I see a wet stain (uploaded here), and I see a stain on the back of the mat.

The car has been regularly serviced each year since we bought it (2003). 110000km so far. This started to happen a couple of years back. Now it usually appears after a heavy rain.

Please tell me that SOMEONE has an idea of what is causing this...

Thanks!

Check to see if your cowl drain is blocked. This sits beneath your windshield wipers, and can be cleaned with a stream of water directed here after opening your hood (you can also try unscrewing the plastic cover beneath the wipers for clearer/easier access).

If its blocked, water could accumulate here, and then flow into the car when it is moved - which could explain why it didn't occur when the car was checked by pouring water at a standstill.

My daughters car does too, after all the rain we’ve had it’s like a boat since she’s learning to drive - my feet sit in puddles as I’m the supervisor. Any ideas on what could be the cause as my car now has to sit in the weather to protect hers from further damage.

I have also having similar problem with my Getz prime 2007. It happens during rains only, thats why AC is not the culprit. Also, already three times in last 2 year, I had got this water leak checked from hyundai service center but they couldnt come out with solution but paid them. Wiper, drain pipes all cleaned, still get water on driver's footwell during the rains. It happens even when car is parked in rain. What can I do next? please suggest.

Does your windscreen washers empty quickly (esp if using rear washers)? I had a leak in the drivers side foot well and it was the washer tubing that had come apart. The tube runs under the carpet down by the door sill. It was simple to click the tubes and connectors back together.

Hope that's somewhat helpful

Guys, solved it at a service shop "Hyundai Birt" in Zagreb, Croatia.

Now, I might not get the terminology right, but the problem was a cable behind the lever which opens the bonnet. Guys there replaced the cable and that solved the issue - no more wet floors!

I have had the same problem with the water, the grommet that the bonnet cable passes through was perished and rainwater was travelling down the cable and into my foot well. I put sealant around the grommet and it fixed it, no need to replace any cables or spend much money at all :)

Guys

I was going to suggest that you check all the grommets that penetrate the fire wall as one might not be seated properly allow water to pass through. Sounds like that was the problem. You need to look for the obvious problems first and if eliminated then move to things like blocked drain tube or block piping running to the rear screen washer.

Also check to ensure all window seals and door seals are not letting water past.

Same problem. funny same year model 2003. A friend told me it was likely the rubber seals around door has lost its flexibility (sorry can't think of a better word) Therefore not giving correct seal anymore. I have no answer as to how to fix it except to replace the seals which i know is expensive.
