good day everyone...

last night l found out that the light on my odometer, isn t working... everything else seems to be alright, it seems like when l conventional bulb just blows, no light in that particularly area (odometer, trip A Trip B) window... ( reading of the odometer is still working perfectly)..

any idea has this happend to anyone before? how did they fix it? is it a bulb or LED ?

any help will be useful ...

THANKS

hello thank you for your quick response. about what you are asking yes l have played around with the dimmer switch, its all good. its Just the little window of the odometer the one thats not working, that is a separate type of light from the rest of the dashboard lights. You know where it marks the TRIP A or TRIP B, and the odometer.

thanks

Ahh yes. I didn't think to call it the dimmer switch.

Have you downloaded a copy of the work manual for the Getz? I'll take a look later on and see if it mentions anything for damaged lighting of the speedo cluster area. Edit: (I mean odometer lighting)

I think that there is a link above with the Getz works manual. I downloaded it as a torrent myself. It will hopefully mention something in one of the separate .pdf files regarding Getz electrics.

Yeah, sorry I've only taken a look just now.

Have you been able to resolve this?

I am looking in the 2003 Getz pdf manual and the 'BE' file (body electrical system) goes about explaining how to disassemble the cluster after page BE75 but oddly mentions pretty much all of the parts on the cluster except for the odometer.

I don't think it takes too long to disassemble the gauges casing to look for an odometer light (take it out) then go and buy a new bulb.
On page BE-76 it takes the removal of 5 screws in total and unclipping the wire connectors from the facure (sp?) after you pull the cluster back towards you after the screws are removed.

Sorry that I took so long to have a look in the manual myself. I am interested in how you got on.

Edit: It should be applicable to your 2009 Getz too and also going by the diagram there are only two wire-connectors the go into the dash. Which is good because you're unlikely to be able to mess things up when you reassemble. I have replaced a part on a dishwasher that had 8 wire connector parts for example so I had to take more care in reassembling.

hey... well its all good now, l decided to give it a go and open up, and take apart the dashboard, in fact there is a bulb just for the odometer window. So l took it off and went and bought a new one, replaced it. 10 min job. no dramas.

the best part was l was able to get a led version so instead of the bulb now l have a led with that fits right like the original bulb. :) its much brighter and looks very nice, (you can still adjust the brightness with the dimmer switch. isn't that fantastic.

so the entire job was done at a cost of $2.15 (the cost of the led) . sweet....
