Last year my wifes 1.6 auto blew the hose to the water pump and cooked the engine. She called RACV who put water in and followed her to a mechanic 3 blocks away. Mechanic charged $120 bucks and told her engine stuffed. Payed the money and picked up car on trailer. At home dropped oil and replaced filter. Replaced hoses and fitted new water pump. Oil pressure was still low and engine noisey. Used 2 pot oil add to get pressure up and told her to take it easy. Ha !! 15,000 km's later oil pump shattered and engine stuffed. Knew it would happen but thought would be sooner. Have just fitted 2007 engine that had 115,000 km's and motor is nice but idle is high 1200-1400 rpm. Should I change to the old idle sensor and airflow sensor or get ECU remapped ?
first thing to know is if the ECU is original or did you get a new one with the new engine? that could easily cause the problem if the fuel maps are slightly different. do the usual checks...vacuum lines, any error codes stored in the ECU (ie. bad sensors), etc. beyond that unless there are other problems, there should be an idle adjustment on the TB. the TPS shouldn't need to be adjusted but it can be done...
I have changed two engines in a getz and had same problem. The first place I would look at is the positioning of accelerator cable. Where cable fastened onto manifold. I have found this cured the high or low idle.
