Hi, my mum has a 2003 Hyundai Getz 1.5ltr (auto)... It got stolen, have since got it back but engine won't even turn over. There is just a clicking noise. All lights come on in car before I try starting it. Have had a mobile mechanic out, he jacked the front side up, turned the wheel and took a long bar and tried to turn something? It wouldn't turn so he said the motor had seized. Have since been told by backyard mechanics it could be as simple as oil. This person had said the sump has a sensor in it, and if oil gets too low, the engine just dies. The oil light never came on for me, nor any warning light to say there is a problem. I hope someone can help as I have no clue with these kind of cars. And we are feeling it not having a car as my mum is an invalid and I am her carer and we need a going car. Thanks guys

I got a mobile mechanic out, he said it was seized....the guy who stole it was my sisters boyfriend, his mum said she'd pay for it but is trying to stall, make excuses. And now has latched on to the idea it the oil, trying to switch the blame to me since i was primary driver.

Surely it matters not how it seized, low oil, no oil, whatever...this clown STOLE the car, it stopped running while he had it.....if he did NOT STEAL it in the first place it is of no consequence to him why it stopped running.....no matter why it stopped, it is HIS problem and he is liable......

On the right side of the motor, if you turn the wheel outwards, the crankshaft nut can be seen, using a 22mm socket and a power bar, try turning the motor, naturally the gearbox must be in neutral, it must turn, albeit with a bit of compression resistance....check the colour and presence of the oil with the dipstick.....these motors are very reliable, the only way it could seize is because of no oil, or it was revved to the redline and left there to rev until it exploded.....
But, at the end of the day, this clown IS liable....get the police involved if necessary.....I understand the law is strictly adhered to in Australia.....

Iana, your'e right there! Kurt Adv, yes the mobile mechanic did that with the crankshaft...no doubt it was revved something terrible. The car was a great car, until then, never had any drama's with it at all, as I said in previous post, no warning lights ever came on for me, so he must have thrashed the **** out of it. Thanks guys for your help. Shame this idiot and his mother aren't as compassionate as you guys have been. cheers!!
