Cooling fan problem

Getz 1.6 2007.
Had a problem a while ago, didnt notice I dropped a screwdriver whilst working on car and it dropped into the coolant fan shroud. It jammed the coolant fan and killed the fan motor. I've replaced the fan and fuse and the the new fan is working fine, and i've observed it changing from low to high speed as per design. The only problem I have, with the engine running and the coolant fan running, if I turn on the A/C the fan stops. I've placed a thermometer in the radiator and operated the car. If I turn the A/C on, the coolant temp goes past the fan switch on points and doesnt operate, turning the a/c off and coolant fan comes straight on.
Any idea why the operation of the A/C is disabling the coolant fan ?

got to the bottom of this today.
The a/c gas had discharged due to a damaged condensor core. I replaced the condensor and regassed the system and the engine fan is now working normally. Must be something wrong in the ecu logic that disables the engine fan when the a/c button is turned on and there is no refrigerant in the system.

Thanks for the update. Good to know this information.
