You do not state which engine your Getz has. Anyway, if its a gasoline (petrol) engine, with timing belt, it should be changed around 90,000 kms (55,000 miles). If its a Diesel that has timing chain, it should be changed around 120,000 kms or 55,000 miles.

Along with the timing chain/belt, all tensioneers and retaining rings on the distribuition side should be changed too. As a suggestion, on this parts that are so important, do not even think of aftermarket "!no brand" parts. Always go with original Hyundai parts.

the short answer is yes, its not worth taking the chance. rubber can wear and perish over a period of time and this is why it ought to be done
