Do I need to replace my water pump at the same time?
I have booked in my 90,000 timing belt to be replaced on Monday... But when I booked, the mechanic said that I 'may as well replace the water pump while I'm there, to save having to pay for the labor if it blows up in a few months time'... Is the water pump really that hard to replace in a 2005 Hyundai Getz? Is it recommended I do this at the same time as my timing belt?
I live in Darwin, Australia which has wet, humid monsoonal and hot, dry seasons - not winter, summer spring etc... Does this make my water pump more prone to failing? Or am I just being conned?
